WVU may double or triple salary for next president
MORGANTOWN -- West Virginia University may double or even triple the salary for its next president.
Raymond Cotton, a national expert on salaries paid to college and university presidents, says outgoing President Mike Garrison's $255,000 salary ranks in the lowest 10 percent nationwide.
The median salary for university leaders is $397,349, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
To be competitive, Cotton says WVU should offer at least $500,000.
Half a million should be the minimum offered, according to Michael Perone, vice chairman of Mountaineers for Integrity and Responsibility, a newly formed group of faculty, students and alumni pushing for reforms at WVU, including new procedures for selecting the president.
"Salaries in the neighborhood of $600,000 to $700,000 would not be unreasonable,'' he said. "We have coaches that make more than that.''
WVU football coach Bill Stewart draws about $800,000 a year.

Perhaps this just proves the old saying......
You get what you pay for.
You get what you pay for.

The moral and constitutional obligations of our representatives in Washington are to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars, while bringing bankruptcy and economic turmoil to our people.
