And cigarette smoke gets blamed …… and taxed.

WASHINGTON - People living in nearly 600 neighborhoods across the country are breathing concentrations of toxic air pollutants that put them at a much greater risk of contracting cancer, according to new data from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The levels of 80 cancer-causing substances released by automobiles, factories and other sources in these areas exceed a 100 in 1 million cancer risk.

Parts of Los Angeles and Madison County, Ill., had the highest cancer risks in the nation — 1,200 in 1 million and 1,100 in 1 million, according to the EPA data. They were followed by two neighborhoods in Allegheny County, Penn., and one in Tuscaloosa County, Ala.

"Air toxic risks are local. They are a function of the sources nearest to you," said Dave Guinnup, who leads the groups that perform the risk assessments for toxic air pollutants at EPA.

And those toxic air pollutants that are being released by automobiles, factories and other sources not only are responsible for causing cancers, …… but are also responsible for causing dozens of other lung, skin, nasal and eye problems which pose a horrendous expense which the public has to bear the brunt of.

But the government levies horrendous taxes on the sale of cigarettes to extort MILLION$ from a selected group of citizens under the guise it is needed for paying for healthcare costs of smokers but which very, very little of said extorted tax monies are used for the purposes they are extorted for. The primary reason being is that cigarettes do not cause all the health problems that they are blamed for.

If they did ........ then the majority of extorted tax monies would be used for their intended purposes.

You don't wanna pay the tax? Then don't buy the cigarettes. But of course if you're a cigarette druggie you'll pay any price for a fix ..............................

Whoever spent good money to get you educated would have been better off spending it on beer and cigarettes. At least they would have gotten something for their expenditure.
