Four-day workweeks could save on gas
Some advocate study of alternate schedule for all public workers
Some lawmakers are touting four-day workweeks for public employees as a way to cut fuel costs and improve customer service.
Several state agencies already use a four-day system.
House and Senate leaders may launch a study in the Joint Committee on Government Organization this year. The panel meets between regular 60-day sessions.
The study would look into the feasibility of placing city, county and state employees on the alternate schedule.
Advocates believe the study will show that public employees and taxpayers can save on fuel by making the switch. Another goal is for citizens to have an extra couple of hours on weekdays to make it to a government office to conduct business.

Would state workers be willing to work 5 hours instead of 4???
