Bill Stewart

Bill Stewart, interim head coach at WVU, is a good man. I've known him for better than thirty years although I cannot say I know him well. I doubt he will be given a second look when they select a new coach but in my booklet he is worthy of the top job.

I know a few HS coaches and smalltime sportswriters are trying to push that idea but doubt if it gets off the ground.

I am not sure how the process works, but wouldnt be surprised if the big boosters (i.e. coal, mylan, et al) will have a veto.

Do you know how it works?

Kendricks didn't show how it works. If he had his way, boosters would have purchased the control Rich demanded and they would be running the athletic department instead of the school.

The way it works is the Ed Pastilong will hire a new coach. I just can't figure out why he hasn't got someone yet unless it's a big name guy that's still coaching.

And Ohio is right, Stewart won't get a serious look.

I'm not sure I was lobbying for Billy Stewart. Shoot, I'm not sure I want him to have the job now. All I was saying is that Billy is the genuine article.

Bill Stewart got the job. He was hired last night after the WVU victory. I'm glad I was wrong.

Well I didnt think he had a shot but my predictions about that are about as good as my political predictions sometimes.

If it is really true that the big money bandits got snubbed then it will be a good thing.

I hope I dont see Stewart doing coal association pr like previous coaches.

Seems ole Bill is putting together a staff. He's got Doc Holiday (Associate Head Coach-FB and TE) to come back to Morgantown along with Steve Dunlap (Assistant Head Coach and LB Coach) and Kevin Lockwood (DB's) and Ron Beatty (RB's).

He offered the OC job to Charlie Taffe who's a head coach in the CFL but it doesn't look like they're going to let him out of his contract. The hire seems a little odd as Taffe was an OC at Maryland once before and if memory serves correct, he's more of an "I" formation drop back type offense. I don't know how he'll adjust to the spread offense that WVU's players (linemen and backs) are suited for. Time will tell.
