Dog That Did Not Bark

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/12/us/politics/12acorn.html

This story in Sunday's New York Times reports that the Census Bureau has disinvited ACORN from participating in the 2010 census effort. Okay? That's pretty straight forward and it is news and that is what happened. I do not dispute any of that. However, the Census Bureau's action was prompted by a scam perpetrated upon no fewer than four ACORN locations where a young man and woman posing as a procurer and his prostitute asked for tax advice.

Furthermore, if you run a Google search for "ACORN" and "prostitution" you will get responses from FOX News and very little else.

This is journalistic malpractice. You know I appreciate they're embarassed at being scooped by bloggers and all but their total failure to even acknowledge it is starting to look foolish. Charlie Gibson has never heard of the story? He looks like a self-absorbed idiot.

OC, it is fascinating , bordering on the pathological. Why would a for profit entity (at least in theory, obviously non lately for-profit:) neglect stories that would get attention and sell newspapers?

The Manhattan cocktail circuit appears unable to prop up Pravda these days, and the latter doesn't seem capable of understanding the consequences.

Doesn't it make you wonder precisely what they expect in return?

Perhaps they expect a bailout too.

The MSM (broadcast and print) has been in the tank for the left for many years. Many consider this a consequence of journalists being 'well educated', urban, and secular. Now that they are failing, they aren't even trying to hide their biases any more. Anyone who reads the Times or watches MSNBC and thinks that they are getting objective journalism needs their meds bumped up a bit.

I watch FOX almost exclusively but they are a for profit entity. As much as I admire their journalistic integrity this week I admonish you to keep a close and wary on them as well.

Given their ratings, it sounds like you are not the only one who is down to just FOX, and your warning is well heeded. I don't know that ABC and them have always been as ridiculous as they now are.
