Computer rankings kind to wvu

Well they say the computer rankings are the most objective and less opinionated.

And the Congrove Computer rankings are more favorable to wvu than any of the others.

They have wvu at no. 3.

SI has them at 14.

But the consensus of all polls seems to settle around no. 8 nationally.

The thing is, most of the to 7 play each other Sherm so if WVU takes care of business, they should be right there on Jan 9th.

I'm not sure what you mean here Sherm. Are you saying that if they do take care of business they still won't make it to the championship game like last year? You are aware that the reason they didn't make it to the Championship last year was because Pitt beat them, giving them their second loss which opened the door for LSU to jump them in the polls, aren't you?

Yes.

If they had run the table last year they would have been in the BCS Championship game.

And if they run the table this year they probably will too.

And part of the reason for them being there is that teams above them play each other. I looked at one poll in which WVU was 8 and there were only 2 that could remain undefeated at the end of the season and one of them played in the SEC, which has 4 top 10 teams.

But Stewart and Co are getting no love so it should be an interesting season.

Well lack of respect can sometimes motivate a team.

Hopefully that will be the case this year.

Generally when you have the type returning players WVU has motivation takes care of itself.

What impresses me is that even with the seniors who played together for four years, the number of freshmen on the depth charts is bodes well for the future.

Stewart, Holiday, Casteel and company are going to fool a few people for a few years to come. They are recruiting very well.

The computer rankings may have been kind but the humans sure aren't. WVU isn't even among those receiving votes. By my calculations, voters have them somewhere in the low 30's to mid 40's.

With the Big East having a down year, I don't know if WVU would crack the top 10 even if they run the table and win the conference.

I think the only thing that will get them any love is a convincing win in a BCS game against a good opponent.
