Another 'good' Democrat idea that would have gone bad
In June 2005, Manchin lost a major election in a major way when voters said no to a plan to borrow $5.5 billion and pay it back through the gains on the money in the stock market.
Manchin should thank the voters. They were wise. In the last four months, the state's portfolio showed a 25 percent drop, a paper loss of more $2.5 billion.
That's on paper but it does mean the state will have to feed an extra $50 million into the retirement funds next year.
Had the bond passed, the state might have had to add, oh, $300 million to cover the interest, if my math is correct.
Of course, we would not have had a paper loss of $2.5 billion.

And that would be the issue where Don Blankenship funded the campaign to defeat the bond. So the only question I have is, will Sherman and Frank publically think Don for saving West Virgina billions?

I will- just as soon as you and OC thank Darrell McGraw, too, for opposing that same bond.

Thank you Darrel McGraw for opposing that same bond, the one that were it not for Don Blankenship, the citizens of West Virginia would surely have been saddled with.
And also thank you for all the good work you do in going after corporations and companies that truly rob, harm and cheat West Virginians like the credit card companies.
If you would learn to quit breaking the law in issuing no bid contracts on contingency fee basis to campaign supporters, stop unconstitutionally dispersing state money and purchasing re-election junkets with state money, you would be a fine AG.
