Teacher charged in assault on 15-year-old girl

WELLSBURG, W.Va. -- A science teacher at Follansbee Middle School is being held on charges of statutory rape involving a 15-year-old female student.

WELLSBURG, W.Va. -- A science teacher at Follansbee Middle School is being held on charges of statutory rape involving a 15-year-old female student.

Thirty-two-year-old Brad Nieman of Wellsburg was in the Northern Regional Jail on $150,000 bond today.

Brooke County Sheriff Richard Ferguson says the sheriff's department learned of the alleged assault through a deputy who is assigned to work full-time in the school district.

Nieman was arrested late Friday.

Ferguson says investigators are still trying to determine whether the sexual contact was a one-time incident or a continuing pattern.

County Schools Superintendent Mary Kay DeGarmo did not immediately return a telephone message today.

Says who? Several instances of females arrested and jailed for the same offense involving teenage boys have been posted to these very forums.

Really? I don't recall any. I'd ask you to refresh my memory but I know how the search is on this site but I honestly don't recall any. If anything, I recall that in the past when this subject is broached, you've acted as if sex between a female teacher and male student is no big deal.

In fact, the only female teacher that I know of who has went to jail is the one Mary Kay Letourneau, the boy was 13 and she originally served 3 months in the county jail.

Uh, uh, ...... there was a Braxton Teacher 5 years ago and she is still in the big house. She was engaging in "sex parties" with 4 or 5 really young boys.

Didn't the pretty blonde down in FL serve some time for her affair with a student? I can't recall her name but do remember seeing pics of her in a bikini on a bike. Sheeesh
