The Northern Lights (aurora borealis) are truly a thing of amazement when one sees them the first few times.

But few ever get the chance to see them “up close and personal” but you can see a few “stop-action” pictures of them by clicking on the following url:

But remember, iffen you are looking at them in “real time” those suckers are dancing n’ prancing n’ darting n’ jumping all over the night sky at about a million mph, give or take, and are produced when the Solar Winds impact the Earth's upper atmosphere causing the emission of a photon of light.

When I was a student at SUNY Oswego, every once in awhile you could see the Aurora Borealis from the south side of Lake Ontario. Sometime they were bright enough to see even through the streetlights.

You never forget stuff like that.
