Almost 25 percent can't pass military exam Empty Almost 25 percent can't pass military exam

Nearly one-fourth of the students who try to join the military fail its entrance exam, painting a grim picture of an education system that produces graduates who can't answer basic math, science and reading questions.

The report by The Education Trust found that 23 percent of recent high school graduates don't get the minimum score needed on the enlistment test to join any branch of the military. The study, released exclusively to The Associated Press on Tuesday, comes on top of Pentagon data that shows 75 percent of those aged 17 to 24 don't qualify for the military because they are physically unfit, have a criminal record or didn't graduate high school.

One day, the world will come to an end. Will that be Ziggy's fault too?

Not really! However, people with Ziggy's views and biases will most likely cause the downfall of this country. Public schools have become indoctrination centers for today's political views and biases. I see kids that cannot read or write or do basic math. I have a friend who teaches on the college level. He teaches history. He has had to teach high school seniors basic grammar, basic English, and how to do basic research.

A couple of years ago I had a science teacher brag how she had used "An Inconvenient Truth" and "The End of Suburbia" to teach science ninth graders. That is not science, it's indoctrination. Actually it is leftist indoctrination. This is the world that Ziggy and his type have given us.

71% of West Virginia high school graduates have to take remedial math in college. 45% require remedial English and the list goes down to 12% being required to take remedial organizing. Our schools are failing our students and Cato is right regarding the cause. We have dummied down our class rooms and curriculum so much that we don't challenge our students.

If we truly want to improve our education, it should stop being a right with satisfactory academic progress required to pass. Failing students should be given 2, maybe 3 shots and then kicked out. And the curriculum should be greatly toughened.

I have repeatedly here stated my contempt for Al Gore and his political showmanship portrayed as science. So how the hell do you figure that "Ziggy and his type" have influenced your science teacher friend to use ""An Inconvenient Truth" and "The End of Suburbia" to teach ninth graders? If this teacher is really your friend, then you have been in a position to influence him or her far more than "Ziggy and his type" ever could. So why do you allow your friends to use such tripe as "An Inconvenient Truth" and "The End of Suburbia" as ninth grade science teaching tools?

Probably for the same reason Poca Science teachers show it. It is part of an approved lesson plan by the West Virginia Department of Eduction. At least that's what I was told when I took my complaint of it being shown to the county.

Elementary my dear sir, the obvious apathy displayed by "Ziggy and his type" toward the leftist indoctrination and/or teaching of Junk Science to the students in our Public School System is a de facto permission for the Educators to do said.

To"abstain" is in effect a de facto "vote of approval" by the abstaining party.

If "Ziggy and his type" were adamantly against the current teaching methods and subject matter being taught then they would be physically and/or verbally protesting said in the same or similar fashion that they “voice” their dislike for wind turbines, coal mining, etc.. or whatever it is that has been and is “turning their cranks”.
