Chemical group director was paid $193K for two part-time jobs at nonprofits

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The part-time director of a South Charleston-based chemical trade group was paid $90,000 last year, while also collecting an additional $103,650 for a separate two-day-a-week director's job with another West Virginia-based nonprofit, records show.

Cross Lanes consultant Kevin DiGregorio was paid for 2 1/2 days a week as director of the South Charleston-based Chemical Alliance Zone, a group that relies heavily on public funding. DiGregorio also worked last year under contract as director of TechConnect West Virginia, a group that promotes technology jobs.

Earlier this week, DiGregorio's Chemical Alliance Zone salary came under scrutiny, after four of the trade group's board members voted by e-mail against DiGregorio's request to increase his total compensation package to $156,000 a year.

Kanawha County Commissioner Dave Hardy, who spoke out against the pay raise, said Tuesday that DiGregorio's TechConnect salary also was excessive.

"It's unacceptable and embarrassing that anyone would have two part-time jobs, funded in large part by public dollars, and earn nearly $200,000 a year," said Hardy, who also serves on Chemical Alliance Zone's executive committee. "That's $50,000 more than the governor makes."

Anyone know how much Kanawha County Commissioner Dave Hardy is being paid by that non-profit?
