Post by SamCogar Sat Jan 01, 2011 8:14 am

2011 will likely be the year the Population Bomb went "BOOM".

If not, then it will be an exacerbating prelude to the start of the predicted Aztec Doomsday event scheduled for December 21, 2012.

And don't be laughing now, ....... ya'll know what the "crazies" do ..... whenever a sure-fire guaranteed-to-happen ancient prediction's predicted date-to-happen is really not very many days away. The start making plans, that's what.

For all the "crazies" who will want to insure that prediction comes true, it is akin to them saying "the Devil made me do it".

Why do think it is that our government feels like we as a nation have to interject in the midst of their cultural problem?

Is it really any of our business what happens in the Congo, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Venezuela or any of the outer countries mentioned?

DUH. ...... you betcha. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

December 21st, 2010 in BusinessCobalt

Africa courted for its rare metals

Titanium, Zirconium ... Africa is particularly well endowed with rare metals. These metals are now a growing market because many of them are essential for manufacturing electronic equipment. It is, therefore, a highly coveted, promising and extremely profitable sector. Estimated at $ 1.4 billion per year, the global market, still very limited, is growing rapidly and should weigh 3 billions in 2015.

Rare metals are, indeed, very popular for their unique chemical and physical properties and essential to several leading industries. They are used in computer hard drives, electric motors, in the magnets used in motors for hybrid cars, in low-power light bulbs, wind turbines, solar technology, fuel cells ... even in missiles. Experts say that 25% of new technologies need these rare metals.

The importance of rare soils in Africa

One example among many others illustrates the richness of the African sub-soil: the continent's cobalt production covers 40% of the global demand and the Democratic Republic of Congo alone holds 50% to 60% of known reserves in the world. The second producer is Zambia, which could be joined by Uganda.

Another example is South Africa, which has the second largest reserves of titanium, behind China, and zirconium, behind Australia, and it exports its rare minerals mainly in raw form.

Thus the construction of the first refinery in South Africa, which is meant to produce titanium, zirconium, magnesium, silicon and rare metals derivatives, has been approved for an investment exceeding 116 million Euros. The start of the construction is planned for 2012 and expected annual capacity is 15 000 tonnes of refined titanium and 2 000 tonnes of zirconium, mainly for export. The creation of about 5,000 jobs is expected thanks to this project.

Facing China, Africa holds a strategic position
The bulk of the world production of rare metals is concentrated in two countries: China for rare soils and indium, the Democratic Republic of Congo for tantalum.

Those are NOT OUR resources. Period. We go to war over oil time and again so now we're to go to war over zirconium and titanium? What else is worthy of sending our young men & women to foreign lands to die for? Are those "rare metals" important enough to make enemies of another half dozen nations? Are they worth traumatizing and maiming and killing and displacing millions more people? That's a proven recipe for creating terrorists.

The real question is, can our economy survive without oil and rare earths and the answer is no it can't. That is the reality of the situaiton. Be honest with yourself, are you willing to live with an economy held hostage at the whims of any foreign government? I can't answer for you, but speaking personally, I'm not. I have done my share already, and it has cost me a fortune. I ain't alone in facing the costs or not being real thrilled about having our economy held hostage.

Now, there are two choices here. The first is simple, if said foreign nation won't sell the thier materials or doing wha tthey can to wreck our economy, then use our military to take what we need.

The other choice is a bit more complicated, however. First, we need to understand how we ended up in this mess. That is answered easy enough, the bastards in office from the local level on up to the federal level have been busy selling the people of this nation out to every special interest group that comes down the pike. Yes, The Siera Club is just as guilty of this as Massy Energy and yes the staunchest conservative bears a much guilt as the most liberal of leftists. The politicans have placed roadblcok after roadblock in front of very people that have the ability to prevent our economy from being held hostage. The politicans have done so by limiting were one can search for resourses. Worse still, the politicans in their neverending quest for money to buy votes and favor, tax, no steal the very reward inventive folks seek, and give that to parasites and leaches. Why should anyone attempt to find new ways of doing things or new ways of replacing rare earths and oil, when the sewage we call leadership is going to steal any reward one might earn from their work?

As a people, we have to decide, whether or not we are willing to be reliant on other governments for the essentials needed to run our economy. If we are then, the only choice we have is to build a military capable of taking and securing what we need. If we are not willing to be reliant on other nations to provide the essentials needed to operate our economy, then we had better be willing to make the trash on all levels of government understand that if they stand in the way of self reliance, they will be removed one way or another.

So is it your stance Sam that the United States is somehow entitled to the resources of the Congo? Why not the oil from Venezuela or the discovery of minerals in Afghanistan that include huge veins of iron, copper, cobalt, gold and critical industrial metals like lithium — are so big and include so many minerals that are essential to modern industry that Afghanistan could eventually be transformed into one of the most important mining centers in the world, the United States officials believe.

An interesting read

You either think we should use military might to seize the natural resources of another nation or you don't. You either believe it is acceptable to incite civil war, topple governments, install regimes and the like or you don't.

America needs to learn to be independent, Cato. That's the answer. I recall seeing a report on some poor South American country being flush with some precious mineral or another. Huge corporations are moving in to extract the stuff, but will the citizens benefit? They should. If they don't you can expect the shit to hit the fan. I wish I could remember what exactly it was and where. I seem to recall that it is extracted from water......like in marshes or bogs or something.

Predictions for 2011 Empty Re: Predictions for 2011

Post by SamCogar Mon Jan 03, 2011 3:08 pm

Now folks, Aaron asked 2 questions which I assumed were directed at me, to wit:

Why do think it is that our government feels like we as a nation have to interject in the midst of their cultural problem? Is it really any of our business what happens in the Congo,
I answered both of his questions, but not in the order he asked them, to wit:

“DUH. ...... you betcha.” ….. Meaning, yes, it is our business to be mighty concerned about the Congo’s raw materials that are needed to insure our socio-economic future. Just like we think it is our business to be mighty concerned about what Obama’s Presidency is doing to our socio-economic future. OK.

And thus because of, to wit:
Rare metals are essential to several leading industries. They are used in computer hard drives, electric motors, in the magnets used in motors for hybrid cars, in low-power light bulbs, wind turbines, solar technology, fuel cells ... even in missiles. Experts say that 25% of new technologies need these rare metals.

I think our government feels that since the Congo’s raw materials are necessary to insure our socio-economic future then it also has to do …… what it has to do …… to prevent civil strife within the Congo, ….. and civil strife in surrounding countries that would surely “overflow” into the Congo, ……. from disrupting and/or completely cutting off our supply of raw materials because of their importance.

And the same thing goes for crude oil, to wit:

Like I have been telling all of you for the past 7 or 8 years, I think our government feels that since Middle East crude oil is necessary to insure our socio-economic future then it also has to do …… what it has to do …… to prevent civil strife within the Middle Eastern and African Nations that supply our crude oil, ….. and civil strife in surrounding countries that would surely “overflow” into said Nations, ……. from disrupting and/or completely cutting off our supply of crude oil because of its importance.

Stephanie wrote:Those are NOT OUR resources. Period. We go to war over oil time and again so now we're to go to war over zirconium and titanium? Aaron wrote:So is it your stance Sam that the United States is somehow entitled to the resources of the Congo?

Now I really hate to be the one to tell you two “international bleeding heart liberals” but the simple fact is, ……. the US economy has “a big ole mean Tiger by the tail” and it can’t let loose, ……. because iffen it does that big ole mean Tiger isa gonna “eat us up”. Wees gotta hold onto it anda keepa feeding it or all hell breaks loose.

So, to answer your new questions, ….. “NO”, the above mentioned resources are not our resources, …… and “NO”, we are not actually entitled to said resources, …… but, those Nations owning said resources, or any other Nation or organized group, …… damn well better not try to deprive us access to said resources or there will be hell to pay and they will be the ones paying.

And “YES”, if necessary, and push comes to shove, said resources are worth traumatizing and maiming and killing and displacing millions more people whether it creates more terrorists or not. They can be maimed and killed also.

Better them than us …….. because, ….. if the US is denied said resources then it would be us ….. maiming and killing ourselves in order to either protect or take said resources from each other. And iffen you think that wouldn’t happen then best you think of New Orleans post Katrina when the “lights were off”.

Respecting the rights of other people isn't a trait exclusive to liberals. America and Americans need to become independent, Sam. PERIOD.

One of the attributes Americans possessed that made America so successful was independence. As the United States rose from the Revolutionary War, she did so by the strength and might and grit of the citizens of the new nation. As Americans recouped from the horrors of civil war, again it was the wit and fortitude of her citizenry that propelled her to greatness. We didn't become the envy of the world commandeering the resources of other sovereign nations. We became an economic powerhouse by utilizing our own resources.....our natural resources and our intellectual and cultural resources.

Americans were victorious over their oppressors in the 18th century and I am convinced we will be defeated by those "we" oppress should we continue down the path we are on.
