Liberal Empathy
Was Santorum crazy for taking the lifeless body of his young son home for one night? Alan Colmes thought he was crazy. The Washington Post's Eugene Robinson, a Pulitzer Prize winner ("This column gives me a license to care".) thinks Santorum is crazy.
Santorum's son was not stillborn. He lived for a few hours. I understand the impulse to feel for a teenager who finds herself pregnant and alone. That isn't where the Santorums were. They have a stable marriage and wanted Gabriel to be born. Can the liberals not feel empathy for the Santorum's grief? Is there no empathy unless the final outcome is the abortion of the child? This, to me, highlights the emptiness of the "right to choose".
