CURSES! Foiled AGAIN! Empty Re: CURSES! Foiled AGAIN!

Urgency because the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere continue to build: Roughly two-thirds of the carbon dioxide spewed into the atmosphere the past 100 years is still there. The rest is in the ocean, Pickett said.

Those idiots keep repeating that totally asinine claim .... because it is a good fear-mongering sound-bite.

Total estimated world’s CO2 emissions by human activity
2008 -- 29,888,121,000 metric tons
2009 -- 31,629,955,000 metric tons
2010 -- 33,508,901,000 metric tons
2011 -- 33,376,327,000 metric tons
source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions

4 year total - 128,403,304,000 metric tons – or 128.4 billion metric tons
2/3rds of total 84,746,180,600 metric tons – or 84.8 billion metric tons

The average mass of the atmosphere = about 5 quadrillion (5,000,000,000,000,000) metric tons.
The Carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is currently at 393 ppm -- or 0.0393%
Thus, @ 0.0393%, there is about 1,965,000,000,000 tons of CO2 in the atmosphere.
Or, there is about 1,965 billion tons of CO2 in the atmosphere.
Therefore, @ 393 ppm, each ppm of CO2 is equal to about 5 billion tons of CO2.

And if we divide 84.8 billion tons by 5 billion tons = 17ppm increase in CO2 in just the past 4 years

And that is just human emissions and doesn’t include any emissions caused by soil bacteria, permafrost melting, volcanoes erupting, etc. which is like 25X greater than human emissions.

Therefore, if 2/3rds of just the past 4 years of human emissions of CO2 was still in the atmosphere then the current atmospheric CO2 would be at 404 ppm …… and not at 393 ppm.

(That’s figuring the 17 ppm - average 1.5 ppm/year increase or 6 ppm total = 11 ppm increase)

And, the current average yearly increase in CO2 would be like 4 ppm/year instead instead of current 1.5 ppm/year.

And if you add in the other 96 years of human emissions you will likely be over 500 ppm of CO2 currently in the atmosphere.

Junk science is junk science.
