7 Dead, 30 Wounded in Weekend Violence

Seven people were killed and at least 30 others were shot in violence that plagued Chicago over Father's Day weekend.

Six of the fatalities and 11 other shootings occurred overnight Saturday leading into Father's Day, including the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy.

Chicago is a city with huge deficits, soaring crime, and a gap between the wealthiest and the poorest that makes everyone outside of Manhattan and  Brazil blush.  The pity of it all is that Chicago politicians are starting to make sense to those outside of the city limits.  Not good. 

They will blame the gun makers, they will blame education spending or social service spending, they will blame the rich, they will blame George W Bush.  It will never occur to them that there are cities with more guns, which spend less on education and social services, and maybe even voted for George W Bush, in which people are not shooting each other at quite the same rate.
