Too Late to change course in Afghanistan?

Should an Obama Administration appoint a commission (similar to the Warren Commission) to investigate the Iraq debacle?

Well I think most of us know by now that it was a mistake to divert resources from Afghanistan to the misguided neocon misadventure in Iraq.

The terrorist outlaw gang responsible for the 9-11 attacks on our country were holed up in Afghanistan, but President Bush was apparently given bad advice from the proponents of the "Project for a New American Century" who were seeking to build an Imperial America and establish what amounts to worldwide hegemony. And part of that strategy included domination of the oil rich Persian Gulf.

They surmised they could not actually implement their scheme without some kind of "Pearl Harbor" type event.

So they decided to distort the events of 9-11 into that event in the public's perception.

With the passive (or perhaps even active) support of the American spoonfed media they were able to pull it off.

This band of brigands apparently had the full confidence of President Bush and took full advantage, convincing him to divert much needed resources to topple Saddam Hussein's regime.

So now, five years and 4,000 American deaths later, it may be too late to take up where we left off in Afghanistan.

So what should we learn from this sorry episode in our history.?

Should we make a serious inquiry into how this happened to lessen the likelihood of this ever happening again?

So what should we learn from this sorry episode in our history?

We should learn to question every lofty or sinister authoritaran pronouncement from on high. And the more lofty and sinister it be, the more it should be questioned.

But just as we did not learn it with Vietnam nor Water-gate, I predict that we will not learn it with Iraq nor Wall-Street-gate.

Most of us are taught from the earliest age to sumbit to authority and to not question anything- until we are "grown up". But by then we have learned to be afraid to question authority.

Damn the authoritarians. Challenge everything with full power and speed ahead.
