Palin for Pres. 2012
http://www.sarah-palin.com/
Well so far Sarah is off to the races.
I believe if anything she is a bigger media darling than Obama ever was.
Course the rightwingers will cry and moan and claim they dont treat her fair.
It's just a republican thing I guess to claim the media is against them,
I personally can remember all the way back to Nixon/Agnew and they have always blamed the press.
But with all the free press she gets, Palin has left the rest of the Republican field in the dust.
She is dumb like a fox.
(remember when Agnew called the press "nattering nabobs of negativism"?)
They always want to be the victim and claim the press is out to get them even though the free press coverage keeps them in the public eye.

Re: Palin for Pres. 2012
A politician I used to know once told me, "I don't care what they say about me as long as they spell my name right". He had been outspoken about a raise the State Troopers were demanding. Some cat from Marmet sent a letter to the editor of the Gazette calling him "Possum-Head Gilligan". He framed it.

Was that about 69 or 70?

Re: Palin for Pres. 2012
No, it would have been '72 or maybe '73. They were claiming that some troopers were so destitute they were eligible for food stamps.

Re: Palin for Pres. 2012
Well I started in 1970 at $496 per month.
They told us there had recently been an across the board raise of either 50 or 100.
That's why I speculated 69 or 70.

Conjures up images of the teachers last year waving signs that read, "My kids qualify for free hot lunch" and the like...
Re: Palin for Pres. 2012
I was a member of the United Steelworkers in 1969 and earned $3.49/hour or $558 a month. I know you mean to show how little money that was but $496 a month was real good money in 1969. Please don't say you don't want to chew this gristle any longer. I just can't take another gristle chewing.

Re: Palin for Pres. 2012
No you misread my intention OC.
I meant to say that they got a big raise around that time just before 1970.
And maybe the politician you referred to had been partly responsible.
I dont remember any appreciable raise in 72 or 73.
Nor did I ever "demand" one.

Re: Palin for Pres. 2012
Case in point - I didn 't know you were a trooper in 72 or 73. I wasn't criticizing you. But I can clearly remember it happening. I suspect you know he got a lot of his information from OSN.

Sarah Palin is the best gift the Democratic Party could hope for.
Run Sarah, RUN!!!!!!!
Run Sarah, RUN!!!!!!!
Re: Palin for Pres. 2012
Once again, you're showing your ignorance. Liberals are scared of Sarah Palin and that is why they, with the aid of the liberal media trashed her from day one of her announcement. The last thing liberals want to see is someone who energizes the right as much as she does.
You guys are so weak that even your own is turning no the liberals of the democratic party.

And of course, that's all you've got. I do believe you’re an idiot with nothing tangible to say about anything.
And you claim to be a professor.
Please.

Palin, should she actually become the GOP nominee net time around, will split the party. She, and Huckabee, and the rest of the wacko fringe, will drive the moderates out, forcing them to either sit out the election or form some sort of centrist party. Either way, Obama will win in an Electoral College landslide, as the Democrats will still be united behind him.
He will then send a very nice "Thank you" card to Sarah for her to read on the plane/bus/sled back to Wasilla.

I only respond in kind, SB. And even at that, I usually show restraint.
Re: Palin for Pres. 2012
Just like the 'fringe' split the party in 2000 and 2004?
What you and yours fail to grasp is that Republican turnout was DOWN 8% last month. When those 8% come back, democrats will not landslide anything.

Re: Palin for Pres. 2012
Why then didn't Reagan "split" the party in 80 or 84? He did, really, and won easily anyway over the Rockefeller Republican and Carter.
If anything, the Republicans didn't learn from their own success in 1980.
As for "doing as you are done by," you demonstrate why this world doesn't work well. "Do as you would like to have done to you" is a far better approach to life.

And that is a lie. I was civil to you but you cried because I called you William or Bill and I wasn't respecting your desire to remain anonymous. To back your claim that I should respect that desire, you posted your rules of netiquette. One of your rules was to not offend others, specifically in a signature line, which you've clearly violated. You've stated your role is to piss off the religious right and that is the reason for your offensive picture. You're not responding to anything, you are the cause of it.
But not with me, not any more. I've proven what you are and I'm satisfied with that and as such, I believe I'll take Mike's advice and be done with your tripe.

In Braxton County in 1963 a starting Teacher made $2,500/year, ..... that's $208.33/month.

Of course, Sam, that was in the go-to-hell-in a handbasket-Carter years and Reagan was not yet in office to bail out the economy.
