WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Illinois Democrats close to Sen. Barack Obama are quietly passing the word that John Edwards will be named attorney general in an Obama administration.

Does that mean that he will sue the pants off himself?

He'll sue the rich and give it to the poor because that's what he's fought for all his life and he believes in it so passionately.

The nouveaux riche will be exempt from his Robin Hood heroics, I suspect. He'll go strictly after old money, 3rd generation and beyond. I think Teddy will be safe, but Patrick will have to guard his trust fund.

Actually, considering Edwards has no chance of winning the election and all that he's doing by staying in the race is hurting Obama, I doubt he'll be offered any position should Obama prevail.

Novak also said that Obama was open to it because big labor would like to have an AG in their hip pocket. Labor support equals big bucks and free shoe leather.

Why would they need an AG if they have a President? Edwards hasn't received a major union endorsement. Obama has.

Why settle for one when you can have both? I think Big Labor would prefer Edwards and had to control themselves not to endorse too soon. Edwards didn't get the AFL-CIO. But he got plenty of others.

So do you think the steel workers and the mine workers regret endorsing Edwards so early?

Oh, yeah. I think anybody that makes an early endorsement and then sees their candidate lose out regrets it.
