GOP governors break with obstructionists in congress

Well the GOP governors, including Sarah Palin are fed up with the GOP congressmen playing political games.
They are the ones on the front lines and want them to quit grandstanding and get to work.

Re: GOP governors break with obstructionists in congress
Governors are elected to run states and have no federal responsibility.
Congress men and women are elected to represent their constituents on a federal level.
Perhaps if states weren't forced to fund federal government mandated entitlement programs, they wouldn't need to be going to Congress begging for a piece of the unconstitutional little if any job creating pork bill that democrats recently mandated on the American people.

I do have a question for you Sodbuster.
You keep calling anyone opposed to Obama's socialist spending as obstructionist.
Why don't you explain to me exactly how this recent pork project is supposed to stimulate the economy.

Re: GOP governors break with obstructionists in congress
" Most Republican governors have broken with their GOP colleagues in Congress and are pushing for passage of President Barack Obama's economic aid plan that would send billions to states for education, public works and health care."
"This past week the bipartisan National Governors Association called on Congress to quickly pass the plan."
"The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, planned to meet in Washington this weekend with Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and other senators to press for her state's share of the package.
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist worked the phones last week with members of his state's congressional delegation, including House Republicans.."

Re: GOP governors break with obstructionists in congress
I wonder if all federal entitlement programs suddenly became 100% federally funded if all these Republicans would feel the same or if the fact that most states are losing as much as 30 to 40% of their budget to fund federal programs has somethng to do with their statements.
At any rate, I'm still waiting for you to tell me how this bill is going to stimulate the economy Sodbuster.
And in your own words if you can.

The States wouldn't need those BILLION$ if they fired all the political appointees that sit on their asses most of the day ........ on the days that they manage to show up at their place of work. And set all employee's Retirement Age at 62 or 65 just like all the working stiffs who are paying for their retirement. And tell all employees to either come to work and do their job or be fired.
But we know that ain't gonna happen ...... and that is why there are quite a few "local governments" that have already started "outsourcing" local Services to qualified Contractors and are saving TEN$ of THOU$AND$ in real-time co$t$ and will save HUNDRED$ of THOU$AND$ in future "entitlement co$ts".
GEEEZE, just think how many BILLION$ COULD BE SAVED if States started "outsourcing" Public Education Services?
YUP, just install large "flat screen" LCD screens on the front wall of every classroom and only hire Principles, janitors, cooks and one or two Aides for keeping order in each classroom. All student "instructional" material to be transmitted "on demand" to said LCD screens from a Server or Compact Disks. Said Instructional CD's to be "outsourced" to an Educational Material Vendor.
Even students who were sick and/or absent could see/hear their lessons for "the day" via an Internet connection and a PC.
No more Teacher sick days, personal days, meeting days, instructional days, etc., etc. days, ..... screwing up the student's 180 Instructional days.

Re: GOP governors break with obstructionists in congress
Sherm,
This is PoliSci 150. Governors love federal dollars because they are blamed for STATE taxes and federal dollars come from NATIONAL income taxes.
It is the role of the Governor to ask Congress for more pork for their states, and should be the responsibility of Congress to say no to that question.
At any rate, Texas and Alaska are remarkably sound as state governments go. If Palin is wanting higher spending than she is in the wrong. I believe last years per person cash handouts from oil revenue were over 3K.
