Fear the Winner Empty Fear the Winner

By now, it's clear to everyone that we have inherited an economic crisis as deep and dire as any since the days of the Great Depression.

Actually, it is clear to me that the economic conditions are as deep and dire as they were during Jimmy Carter's single term, the one that this one is starting to most clearly resemble. FDR, at least, understood the benefits of remaining upbeat and positive.

And Harry Truman knew how to deal with a "do nothing" Congress.

Ask Dewey.

Truman ran more against the do nothing congress than Dewey.

Dewey was the victim of a do-nothing obstructionist congress.

He's a liberal. He'd need to add a couple more branches at least.

Well we need 3 or 4 more Senators to have control.

But dont shortchange yourselves.

The Judicial can make a big difference.

Just ask Al Gore.

Al Gore was never a judge. Just ask W. H. Taft.

If I recall correctly, wasn't the Republican party done in 93 after democrats had defeated them and thus everyone should get in line with the Clintons and the democratic congress or get left behind?

And then 1994 and the contract with America came along and with a few years, we were looking at a surplus.

Let them figth. I hope this gets so partisan that Republicans totally shut the government down on all but necessary spending.

Well I guess if I was totally partisan like some on the right I would agree with you.

Because doing that would guarantee no republican victory for the forseeable future.

...if I was totally partisan...

You are purely partisan. More so than any human being I have ever known.

Well I am not partisan enough to want the republican party to destroy itself.

I think we need at least two parties.

Yeah, wouldn't it be a shame if the republican party grew some principles?
