Well I hope that will silence some of Byrd's critics that he is too old to cut the mustard.

No, that is not correct. West Virginia is not last in the cost of living. Last time I checked the cost of living was lower in West Virginia than the average cost of living across America.

Well "DUH", ...... the "cost of living" in any particular area is based on what the public can afford to pay.

And what they "can afford to pay" is based on their earnings.

Three-Year-Average Median Household Income by State: 2002-2004

United States $44,473

#1 - New Hampshire $57,352
-----
#50 -West Virginia $32,589

http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/income/income04/statemhi.html

And if you eliminate the salaries of all the Federal, State and County employees from West Virginia's average ....... it will be considerably lower ...... and thus will give a more realistic "picture" of the NON TAX FUNDED average income of the populace.

The BOE is the largest employer in quite a few WV Counties.

So Sam, are you suggesting that a higher cost of living is better than a lower cost of living?

If so, for whom?
