Al Gore on Tuesday compared the battle against climate change with the struggle against the Nazis.
The former vice president said the world lacked the political will to act and invoked the spirit of Winston Churchill by encouraging leaders to unite their nations to fight climate change.
He also accused politicians around the world of exploiting ignorance about the dangers of global warming to avoid difficult decisions.
Speaking at Britain's Oxford University at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, sponsored by the Times of London, Gore said, "Winston Churchill aroused this nation in heroic fashion to save civilization in World War II."
He added, "We have everything we need except political will, but political will is a renewable resource."
Gore admitted that it was difficult to persuade the public that the threat from climate change was as urgent as the threat from Nazi Germany.

He meant "Climate Change"--okay? Get over it! Gore won! (Do you want to drown polar bears over a measly technicality? Okay! Get over it!)

I have bear burgers in the freezer. Unfortunately they are not polar bear burgers.
Gore and Obama want to control people's lives. Calling people who want personal liberty to live as they choose, as opposed to how the government directs them, Nazis, is a delicious bit of irony. It reminds me of when Howard Dean referred to Bush as Stalinesque and then said that politics had become too polar.

Uh, Terry, Bush is gone now. I'm not saying that you are wrong, but Bush is no longer in office.
A common liberal line of argument is that because Bush did something stupid, it must mean that Obama can do something asinine, because after all, Bush did something just like it.
Someday perhaps the left will stop campaigning against George Bush.

No. I'm saying that you only single out liberals as examples of those destroying our country. The Patriot Act was a horrible, knee-jerk stomping of our civil liberties - the very essence of controlling someone's life that you can't even put in the same ballpark as "cap and trade".
I'm scared spitless about Obama's health care plan. I think we are in real trouble in the matter of climate change. Bush denied the latter and Obama says we can't live without the former.
I don't like ANYONE in politics, these days. At least I'm even-handed about it.

Don't you think the lion's share of criticism needs to be directed at the people actually in office and making policy?

Who was responsible for putting the GOP in such sorry shape, thus letting the democrats push their dubious agenda.
I'm not pleased with either party. You will not see me going out of my way to defend the Obama admin. I voted for him [Obama] only because I was terrified that McCain was going to be Bush lite and the fact that he paired with an inarticulate bible-thumper to gain "credibility" among the "rightest" of the GOP really pissed me off.
I didn't expect all of the GOP losses in congress...

One person wasn't the sole reason for the state of the GOP. GWB didn't pay for a war while it was going on and then caved to RePO on bailout programs in the latter part of his Presidency, Dick Cheney was abrasive, overbearing and rude which often times covered up the fact that he was correct about a lot of things, the party preached one thing while members were practicing another and a extremely liberal media did their part to highlight all that was wrong in the GOP while burying any wrongdoing by the Democratic party.
That combined with the most inadequate candidate in history could give one hell of a speech and spent 2 years promising what has turned out to be lies spelled the setbacks in the GOP party.
I’m sure there’s more but that is at least scratching the surface.

YUP, that's the reason WV Democrats have had free reign to push their dubious agenda for the past 80 years.
I guess ole Sherman taught you all well.
Not enough Republicans to keep the Democrats in check ........ then they are forced by the Flying Spaghetti Monster to screw things up like Hogan's Goat on a rampage.
