Oh, that's simple. You want US legislators and judges to use the Bible as the basis for passing and upholding laws. As a matter of fact, you expect it.

I say leave religion to the churches and let the Constitution guide our nation.

Show me where I ever said that or where I have ever said that I expect judges and legislators to use the bible as the basis for passing and upholding law. Refer me to the posts where I have said that.

I say and John Adams says that the constiution is made for governing a good and religious people it unsuited for any other. Only a morally strong people can live together without the constraints of government and the slavery of law.

This isn't it. the only thingI can figure is that I hit the wrong button and thought I posted it. No big deal.

Aaron wrote:John Adams was one man Cato, the Philadelphia constitution was full of the exact same type of politics we face today and the moral absolute you think was so engrained at that time was such that good men, even though they knew it was against the very nature of God, ignored the most vile social issue in the history of this country, if not the world, as a means to pass a document that would allow a fledgling country the means to protect itself.

Yes, there were many great men of that time but none of them walked on water or was ordained by God and in truth, were it not for the fear of another war with England and being returned to rule by their King, the convention would have never survived the back biting and bitter partisan politics of the day.

The simple truth is the many of the same issues that divide us today existed 220 years ago. Alexander Hamilton was as liberal as they come, believing the general Welfare clause entitled the Congress to do whatever was necessary for the people and he was so partisan that he ran his mouth for 20 years regarding Aaron Burr, to the point that Burr challenged him to a duel which Hamilton didn’t want to fight but couldn’t get out of.

You live your life today relatively unharmed because millions of American choose to adhere to a moral absolute you claim is long gone but the simple fact is that the vast majority of us try to live our lives the right way daily, only doing the best we can.

and you are missing the point. Yes, I am well aware that the founders were in someways scoundrals. That's not the point. The point is it takes a people who understand the real meaning of personal accountibility and responsibility to live free and not be shackled by law or use law to extort the fruit of another's labor.

Look at the quotes at the bottom of your posts, at the quote by Cicero. We are int he same boat for the same reason, leaders had forgot and rejected their guiding principles, the people did not better and to appease the people the rulers gave, them " Bread and Circuses" Rome eventually fell. There are principles, morals if you will, that quide a free people. Principles, like not using the government to take from and other, working hard, saving for the furture, treating others as you desire to be treated, and not living off the labors of another. Those are some of things I'm talking about.

Hi Aaron,

I can definitely give a hearty amen to the statement that grace is not limited to those deemed worthy. Really, it's quite the opposite, isn't it? Grace is offered by God through Jesus to those who know that we are not worthy, and know that Jesus is the lamb that is worthy.

Of course, those of us who have been forgiven much are rightly expected to love much, and those of us who love Jesus should do what He says.

I'm almost willing to bet the fault is with me and my size 10 fingers on size 7 keys. I do stupid stuff when I get in a hurry and it is quite possible I never hit the send button. Anyways you'll have that on these big jobs.
