Need a job? Then go West to the East.
BEIJING - When the best job Mikala Reasbeck could find after college in Boston was counting pills part-time in a drugstore for $7 an hour, she took the drastic step of jumping on a plane to Beijing in February to look for work.
A week after she started looking, the 23-year-old from Wheeling, West Virginia, had a full-time job teaching English.
"I applied for jobs all over the U.S. There just weren't any," said Reasbeck, who speaks no Chinese but had volunteered at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In China, she said, "the jobs are so easy to find. And there are so many."

China is commited to growing their economy.
The US politican is commited to staying in office.
China does not throw regulation after regulation in front of tis industry.
The US politicians hasn't met a regulation it doesn't like or won't pass.
The US politicians also proxies his responsibility to bedwetting leftist democrat fools called beauracrats.
China doesn't tax its industry to death.
The US politicians would tax a blind tumbling bug and start it on the wrong road home.

Re: Need a job? Then go West to the East.
I know Mikala Reasbeck. To say that she could not find is a job is misleading. She could not find a job in journalism. There are none. Yet journalism schools continue to take new students and graduating high school seniors continue to apply. The local newspapers have shrunk their staff and rely on the wire services and syndicated columnists. There is coming a great upheaval in journalism.
If Sam's point is that China is booming I'm not arguing. China is where the action is. Ms Reasbeck is teaching English to the Chinese so they can better tell us what to do.

This is what I'm talking about. This is the new journalism. Read anything about Obama's violation of the Hatch Act in the "mainstream" media? You would if Boosh had broken the law and politicized a government program.

If Mikala Reasbeck wanted to work in journalism, she could do it out of her mother's basement.

I read a headline the other day (I should go fishing for that article) stating China is "rethinking" its one child policy. Perhaps they figure they'll be able to colonize North America in the near future.

I read the article, he didn't mean they were doing away with it.

And in America, my jobs are dying because of our government. So where's the medium?

They solved their fears of that dastardly problem in the Kanawha Valley, ....... they chased most all the chemical companies away. And they are trying to do the same to coal operators.

It's simple. Less government doing what they were specifically enumerated to do. That combined with allowing the capitalist system to work will bring American jobs home.

HORSEPUCKY, you know where it is.
And here is but a smidgen of it, to wit:
Workers' Porn Surfing Rampant at Federal Agency
One senior executive at the National Science Foundation spent at least 331 days looking at pornography on his government computer, records show. The cost to taxpayers: up to $58,000
Employee misconduct investigations, often involving workers accessing pornography from their government computers, grew sixfold last year inside the taxpayer-funded foundation that doles out billions of dollars of scientific research grants, according to budget documents and other records obtained by The Washington Times.
The problems at the National Science Foundation (NSF) were so pervasive they swamped the agency's inspector general and forced the internal watchdog to cut back on its primary mission of investigating grant fraud and recovering misspent tax dollars.

What are you saying, sam? Don't be shy.
Isn't this where you insult me and every other public employee for being lazy and useless?
Less government doing what they were specifically enumerated to do.
So we should go back to the "less government" that allowed polluters to create a situation in which a river, the Cuyahoga River, caught on FIRE?
Do you think a a big company cares about protecting its' neighbors? Do you think a big company cares about anything but the profit margin?
Hmmmm....

That happened in 1969 and was a catalyst for many of the environment standards we have today. And as a result, fishing has returned to that river and is a model for what environmental regulations can accomplish.
On July 9, 1970, President Nixon transmitted Reorganization Plan No. 3 to the United States Congress by executive order, creating the EPA as a single, independent agency from a number of smaller arms of different federal agencies. Prior to the establishment of the EPA, the federal government was not structured to comprehensively regulate the pollutants which harm human health and degrade the environment. The EPA was assigned the task of repairing the damage already done to the natural environment and to establish new criteria to guide Americans in making a cleaner, safer America.
The Clean Water Act is the primary federal law in the United States governing water pollution.[1] Commonly abbreviated as the CWA, the act established the goals of eliminating releases to water of high amounts of toxic substances, eliminating additional water pollution by 1985, and ensuring that surface waters would meet standards necessary for human sports and recreation by 1983.
The principal body of law currently in effect is based on the Federal Water Pollution Control Amendments of 1972, which significantly expanded and strengthened earlier legislation.[2] Major amendments were enacted in the Clean Water Act of 1977 enacted by the 95th United States Congress[3] and the Water Quality Act of 1987 enacted by the 100th United States Congress.[4]
Restricting the size and scope of government will not repeal those type of environmental standards and to suggest it would is a little sad on your part.
TerryRC wrote:Do you think a a big company cares about protecting its' neighbors? Do you think a big company cares about anything but the profit margin?

Yes, I think many out there do. There are many companies out there who realize the best way to maximize their bottom line is to be environmentally friendly. DuPont is a perfect example.
They re-acquired the Smelter plant in Spelter, WV with the intent of completing the clean up of that site even though they had a hand in running that site for about 50 years. And what did they get for good will? They became the defendant in a class action law suit simply because they have the deepest pockets.
And for those companies who don't realize that being environmentally friendly is a good way to maximize their profits, that is where government regulation comes into play.
