The original post was about a strange man hitting somebody else's two y/o for crying in a store. I'm telling you, if that had been my child he hit I'd be the one going to jail.

I have spanked my own children and continue to spank my youngest. I did when they were two, but not for crying.

I may not be a perfect mother, but I have kids who are generally "good". None of them have ever been in trouble with the law, other than the oldest once getting busted for possession of a small amount of marijauna. If that's the worse thing any of them ever do perhaps I do deserve an award.

Kate did get in trouble at school once. I don't know if I ever told you guys this story, it was SO overblown and the principal is such a FREAKING IDIOT. If anyone is interested I will share. lol

Yeah Steph lay it on us, what happened?

As for a small amount of marijuana, I really have a problem with this being a crime that follows you. Write the boy a ticket for 50 bucks, make him do some community service, burn his stash, and let him go on with his life.

This is a wonderful story, but it helps if you really know Katie and how harmless she is.

On the last day of school her first year at BHS the principal called me.

"Mrs. Robert, this is Mr. Grimm at the high school. I'm calling to tell you I'm suspending your daughter for threatening other students."

"Are you sure you've got the right student?"

"Oh, yes. She was overheard threatening to stuff a freshman in a trash can. We have a zero tolerance policy here so somebody needs to come pick her up."

My husband was on his way to a job interview just across the river in Winfield so we agreed he'd go on his interview and pick our little deviant up. He asked me the question, "Wait, either she's a freshman or the freshman aren't there."

Now this interview took a while, we figured he'd be in and out and before he got over to the high school to pick her up Grimm called back.

"Mrs. Robert, this is Mr. Grimm again. Are you coming to get your daughter or what? I've suspended her, she can't stay here."

"First of all, it's Mrs. Butcher. Yes, my husband should be there any minute, but I have a couple of questions for you. First of all, are isn't Katie still a freshman? The incoming freshmen aren't there, are they?"

"Oh yes, they are. Today is "step-up" day and the sixth graders are here and your daughter was overheard threatening to stuff one in a garbage can. I'm ocnsidering suspending her for the first several days of the next school year."

"Oh, surely you're mistaken, or it was a joke. Katie's never been in any kind of trouble, she's not a trouble maker and she would never just attack somebody like that out of the blue."

"Wait just a minute, Mrs. Butcher[i], we take threats very seriously here. What your daughter did is no different than if she had boarded a passenger plane and said she had a bomb."

I know there was some yelling. I'd like to hope there was on profanity, but I really let that twit have it because for months Katie had been coming home from a PE class run by a creep who ogled the girls that one boy was stuffed in a trash can on a regular basis, but I know I didn't mention that.

Turns out Kate and the tash can boy were walking down the hallway and Katie said to him, "Just think, Jeremy, it's over for you. Next year it will be one of these stupid freshmen being stuffed in a garbage can. hahahahaha"

I had no further dealings with Grimm, never heard a peep out of him until I refused to allow Kate to miss her AP Lit class to take the West Test, but that's another story and a bigger battle. He's an ass.

Comparing my daughter to a terrorist.......you know I'm practically foaming at the mouth just thinking about it. It's a good thing we were on the phone.

I don't what Sam is suggeting, but I'm willing to suggest it. Yes, Stephanie, I would paddle a kid other than my own, if the occasion called for it. I can no longer count the times I have been in a store where someone's spawn was throwing a tantrum. I can't speak for another soul here, but I get tired of it and it doesn't take me long to do so. I don't go to the store to listen to some brat yell because they didn't get something they wanted.

I'd love to be there when that happened...
