Obama: Stimulus Has Saved 2 Million Jobs

U.S. President Barack Obama says the massive economic stimulus bill he signed one year ago has prevented another Great Depression and kept millions of Americans working. The president is celebrating the anniversary of the bill's signing.

President Obama says the $787 billion Recovery Act is working. "It is one of the main reasons the economy has gone from shrinking by six percent to growing by about six percent. And this morning we learned that manufacturing production posted a strong gain. So far, the Recovery Act is responsible for the jobs of about two million Americans who would otherwise be unemployed," he said.

Someone please divide $787 billion by 2 million jobs................

Welp, the stimulus cost $393,500 per job. If they were doing to do that why didn't they just send a $2,572 dollar check to every man, woman, and child in this country and be done with it.

I have long thought that. If our kids are going to be the ones paying this back anyway, might as well give it to us in the first place.

I debated a colleague on Keynesian economics, and the best she could do was say that Bush engaged in deficit spending as well. I thought it rather lame that her defense was effectively "Bush did it, too" rather than "this actually works."

I have problem with this. First, of all it is completely immoral and unethical to take from future generations to redistribute to those who are nothing more than parasites. Yes, that is stron language. By what right does anyone have to take from one generation and then expect them to repay what has been taken.

The Bush defence is the only defence any of these people have. The fact of the situation is that George W. Bush was a joke. He was a pee poor president serving with a morally bankrupt congress. Obama is no better. His presidency is proving to be just as poor as Bush's or even Carter's. Like Bush Obama is imcompetent and like Bush he is serving with just as morally bankrupt a congress.

I am very familiar with this program. There is a four month backlog, the program is funneled through various agencies, they have failed to hire and then train adequate personnel, and then most anyone can get serious work done on their neighbor's dime.

The beauty of saying that "we saved 2 million jobs" is that it is not falsifiable, just like man made Global Warming. That is what I am always asking the AGW crowd--what constitutes evidence to the contrary.
