I made it and didn't raise any taxes. I do notice several items weren't on the chopping block. Items like Medicaid, education, and so forth. Additionally, I would cut foreign aid by 100%.

Here's one: the federal government subsidizes 50% of every state's Medicare expenditures. That means the states have no incentive to save money there and, consequently, state governments grow in conjunction with and in collusion with the federal government. Furthermore, in New York hospitals cannot lobby the federal and state government. SEIU has made a deal to organize the hospitals and do the lobbying for them. As a result, New York has Medicare expenditures greater than Texas and California combined despite being smaller than either state. Give the entire expenditure to the states and watch it shrink.

I solved the budget by increasing taxes and reducing spending, the only real solution to our debt. And I didn't limit spending cuts to just social programs but cut military spending as well. How much would we save if we brought all troops home, kept them active duty to eliminate the hit to unemployment but stopped paying for base leases and provisions overseas?

I agree with Representative Paul OC. Of course I also believe we need to reduce our committment to both NATO and the UN as well. Is that a Paulian concept as well?
