Think about this for a moment. If you were in Obama's shoes and many were questioning your place of birth, what would you do?

Would you do nothing to end the questions? Or; Would you produce the document that puts to rest the question of the place of your birth?

Think about it.

I would ignore it. There is no point in giving credence to the demands of the insane.

West Virginia has the same privacy laws. I can't get anyone but family members birth certificates and vice versa as it should be.

Its garbage like this that will lead to the re-election of Barrack Obama as the obvious shortcoming of our shortcomings will be overshadowed by the racist and birthers who have nothing substantive to the debate.

Those are two interesting replies. I have to produce my birth certificate when I renew my passport and would each of you. Since when is the president immune from proving his qualifications for the presidency and I am not immune from proving mine to travel outside the country. Seems to me in the 67th Federalist there is quite a discussion about the laws applying equally to everyone without regard to station.

As far as getting Obama reelected, this isn't going to going to affect anything other than to put to bed the legality of his presidency. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we were a nation of laws. The US Constitution states the president is to be a natural born citizen. Either Obama is or isn't or does this law not apply to him?

He released his birth certificate and was certified by the state of Hawaii. There was no less then 18 challenges in various courts and each has been thrown out. Like it or not, he has adhered to the law and his citizenship is not in question. It is a settled issue.

Cato,

I share your great dislike of the man's policies, but have you considered Aaron's point that the birther argument has proven itself a diversion that hurts our cause? There is no chance that the man is going to be removed, and meanwhile he carries on a socialist agenda that we need every hand on deck militating against.

For his part, I don't see Obama favoring Indonesia over any other country, I see him ruining this one.

Geeeze, dat looks like a good statement for using in the pro/anti-birther argument, also.

What it does prove however is that the laws you and I live under don't apply to those in office, which is just one more reason to remove all the bums from office during the next election cycle. If I were in his shoes and this question had come up, and tranparency is something I promiced, my birth certificate would be public for all to see.

As far as ruining this nation goes, he and alot of congress are doing a good job of it. As was Bush and his ilk

When I went to renew my license and was required to produce my birth certificate (as is the law now but that's an issue where another poster is wrong) and they accepted a copy that was verified by the state as was the case with Obama. How is that not abiding by the law?
