FOX Republicans in South Carolina
Did you see the debate? What do you think about Giuliani's Florida strategy?

Re: FOX Republicans in South Carolina
I'm still waiting on the knight to come riding in from the wings and save the Republican party.
I don't see how his Giuliani’s Florida strategy is going to work considering there's 5 primaries between now and then and he needs different people to win to keep him in the race.
If Romney wins Michigan and Thompson somehow wins SC, that still leaves Nevada, Louisiana and Hawaii.
Romney would have 2 wins (Wyoming and Michigan) and the only viable way for Giuliani is if Hunter steals a state and Paul steals one. Otherwise, other viable candidates would have to have 2 states each and I just don't see how him winning one state can counter others with 2 wins.
One thing is certain though, there is no clear front runner. I think the only way this side of the coin is getting solved is by elimination and I think Giuliani could very easily be next, ahead of Paul and McCain.
So who did you think came out on top last night Mike?

Re: FOX Republicans in South Carolina
Giuliani's stance on illegal immigrants, which he outlined during said debate, ...... is FUBAR.
Giuliani's reasoning for making NYC a "sanctuary city" and not to question anyone about their citizenship status …….. was because so many “illegals” were committing atrocious crimes …. and the non-atrocious-criminal “illegals” would not come forward and tell the Cops anything out of fear of being deported.
Well “DUH”, if he had deported all the “illegals” ……. he wouldn’t have had any illegals to be committing those crimes.
For a Prosecutor, ……. that is no more than “blatant selective prosecutions”.
It appears if one is "worth something" to him, ....... he wouldn't prosecute them for an "illegal act", ....... a guaranteed method of creating and fostering rampart graft, corruption and other illegal activity.

Re: FOX Republicans in South Carolina
Hi Aaron,
I think the people on the television liked Fred Thompson. I thought they all carried themselves decently.
One problem I see now with both parties is that instead of answering questions about how to solve problems, they instead answer questions about problems merely reaffirming that the problem exists, or offering explanations as to why the problems exist without answering how to fix them.
I should like a bit more substantive debate, and I think Dr Paul's ideas are certainly distinct. I also appreciate the difference between Thompson and Romney on public health care. John McCain mentioned global warming without suggesting just how one goes about addressing the matter, and both the mentioning of it and the failing to tell the class just what to do about it did him no favors.
A question that I believe they all did very well on related to the Iranian speedboat incident, in which they all deferred judgement to the commander on the scene. The "gates of hell" and "virgins" comments were also well placed and entertaining.

Re: FOX Republicans in South Carolina
CNN is now reporting Giuliani's top campaign staffers are being asked to work overtime without pay.
Re: FOX Republicans in South Carolina
The blogosphere says Giuliani's top staffers WILL work without pay and he's pulling out of Michigan.

I really liked Thompson's comments about the virgins. It was perfectly stated and timed as if he's given a line on cue before. Huckabee sounded like someone trying to be tough that's never had to be tough before and he sounded out of character. I didn't care for his responses as much.
I agree on your assessment. They gave sound bite answers, which is what the vast majority of Americans want to hear. When Paul started talking about the recession the panel and some audience members were looking at him like he was the retarded kid in math class and he didn't help himself by sounding like a professor. This was by no means his best debate and I think it was obvious the panel didn't veiw him in the same light they did the other candidates.
And then when Brit Hume let him ramble about pulling out of the war and waited until his minute was already up to ask him why he was condemning the others for backing the Navy commanders passive response, I felt like it was an attempt to make Paul look bad and unfortunately for Paul, it worked with a lot of people.
The biggest problem I saw was there were just too many candidates and right now, I don't think anyone can say who the front runner actually is. There was a national poll this morning on CNN I believe that said Rudy was the front runner but I just don't see it. The only way anyone could back him imo is if they've never heard him speak. The man butchered about everything he tried to say last night and to me, he just looks shady.
It will be interesting to see who survives into Super Tuesday and beyond. I could see this going to the convention without a clear cut winner. They could actually go to Minneapolis on September with no one having the 1,091 delegates needed to secure the nomination.
