Use it or Lose it Empty Use it or Lose it

“It's time for oil companies to use it or lose it,” added Emanuel. “These companies have access to millions of acres and there is nothing stopping Big Oil from using this land to produce energy.”

Congressman Nick Rahall is telling big oil companies to "use it or lose it."

Clearly this is a case where Rahm Emmanuel gets to talk tough nationally but Nick Joe can talk tough to the Daily Mail. Alan Mollohan is probably talking tough today to the Dominion-Post.

Maurice Hinchey did some tough-talking of his own. In all fairness to Emmanuel and Nick Joe maybe this only went out to marginalized regional papers in New York.

"President Bush had six years to work with a Republican-controlled Congress on the issue of gas prices, yet the problem only worsened. During that time, the president and Republicans in Congress passed several major pieces of energy legislation that allowed for more drilling, yet prices did not fall.”

I think Maurice has Boosh’s number on this one: prices never got below $2 a gallon back when the republicans ran Congress. They clearly proved themselves unable or unwilling to get the prices down.

I’m thinking a stiff windfall profits tax ought to bring it back to $1.50 about any day now.
