It is not neccssarily a sign that she thinks that "marriages should be "open" to try to make the best of a bad situation by going on with their lives as best they could or can. We do not know what all her considerations were/are- nor should it be our buseness to. Politically he is ruined- history. What becomes of their marriage, of their children etc. now is their business, not ours.

Let her live out her life with as much peace as she can find for herself.

No, I'm not making her out to be a villian. John Edwards says his wife knew about the "mistake" in 2006. So she knew then, she believed him, because she WANTED to believe him. I don't blame her for that. I love my husband and I trust him. If I discovered tomorrow he violated that trust and had an affair, I'd be very inclined to forgive him and try to move on if he said it was a "mistake" and would not happen again. I wouldn't destroy my son's life and turn my back on the man who has been so good to me for a decade because of a "mistake".

Edwards obviously isn't making a "mistake". He's a serial cheater. He has lied to his wife repeatedly and it is obvious he has little to no regard for the welfare of his children or he wouldn't carry on extramarital affairs while running for President of the US. What he has done he hasn't just done to his wife, but to the children she gave birth to.

She is dying. I stand by my statement that if she is smart she will put into trust whatever she can for those children so that HER children are assured to receive her financial contributions to that family. Elizabeth Edwards has a responsibility to her children to make sure that pig doesn't squander away all that she worked for.

She doesn't have to divorce him to do it. I'm not encouraging her to divorce him. I'm not encouraging her to speak poorly to her children of their father. I don't believe that would be in their best interests or hers.

In any event I am not villianizing that woman. Someone else, either you or Sherm, put out there that Elizabeth Edwards "knew" like either she acquiesced to the situation, which is why I said if she knew he was cheating on her she shouldn't have lied to the American people. The alternative to she "knew" is that Edwards lied to her when he told her it was a "mistake" and he wouldn't do it again.
