Re: Real tax reform
Now how many of those poor grunt workers would have the money to pay for all of those taxes were it not for the capital investments of corporations that provide them their jobs?
So why not make corporate executives responsible for the crimes of the corporation? But no, all the corporations usually see is some nominal fine- which is just part of the corporation's cost of doing business. Often it is cheaper for corporations to pay fines than to comply with the laws. John Doe should get off so cheap, too.
John Doe often goes to jail for even his petty crimes. Why shouldn't John CEO go to jail for his corporation's crimes?
CORPORATION, n.
An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility.

Re: Real tax reform
Corporate Executives are responsible for the crimes of the corporation as are any and all individuals employed by the corporation. They are all responsible for their crimes.
The problem is, government oversight more often then not fails to uphold their end of the bargain as they would rather raid corporate profits in the guise of fines then do what they are hired to do, which oversee.
Aracoma is a perfect example. MSHA has no problem fining Massey out the ying yang but not once have the brought criminal charges against anyone, including their own inspectors, who were negligent in their inspection and as a result, two men died.
For every example of corporate wrong doing, there is a government agency not doing their job. EVERYTIME.

Re: Real tax reform
It's not just the agencies. The law itself favors corporations over real people. If I do DUI or most drug offenses, the law MANDATES that if found guilty, that I serve the time- from as little as 24 hours to years and years. Often the sentencing judge has no alternative but to sentence to prison. There are virtually no such legal mandates for corporate crimes.
"Some men will rob you with a six gun, and some with a fountain pen."
The guy who robs with the six gun- or who even breaks in and steals it without having any weapon- will almost always get far less $$$ for his efforts than the guy whole robs with a fountain pen- and be far more likely to go to prison for his crime.

Re: Real tax reform
But you haven't shown how corporations are robbing anyone. You just say they are. Pretend I'm from Missouri.
