Where do you think wv general revenues come from?
WV Revenue Sources
Well I thought it might be interesting to see where posters think WV revenues come from.
I will post a link below to the answer where they actually come from.
But please vote for where you think it comes from before you check the link ok.
Multiple choice is allowed but please vote for only the top two .
This might be interesting. Good luck.
(I must admit I was a little surprised.)

I wasn't suprised S.
I will say that I'm not exactly thrilled at the number of ways we're taxed though.

Re: WV Revenue Sources
Neither am I.
Also please note that is just general revenue funding and does not include Highways, most of HHS, etc. which have separate funding sources.

Re: WV Revenue Sources
I got a tax form in the mail the other day and they want me to list my dogs so I can pay a tax on them.
Can anyone explain why the government feels the need to tax me for having a dog and what right do they have to place such a tax in the first place?

Isn't it just male dogs over one year old?

Re: WV Revenue Sources
I have no idea. I threw it away as I'm not paying a tax on my dog. I refuse and on this one, I will not give in. If the county insist on pressing the issue, they can arrest me and I'll take my chances in court. I'm sure I could find some organization that believes Americans are overtaxed as it is and would assist in my defense.

Re: WV Revenue Sources
Well I'm not sure what they say it is for, but I think it is just a dollar.
So it probly costs more to do the paperwork than it takes in.
I doubt it is a criminal offense, so they would not arrest you.
(course I guess they might put a tax lien on you)

Re: WV Revenue Sources
It was either $3 or $5 per dog and I won't pay it. It's a principal thing.

Re: WV Revenue Sources
OK I think it did go up.
It is not a new tax, it has been around since at least the 1960's and used to be one dollar.

Re: WV Revenue Sources
If the dog warden funds your dog and it is without a license tag (obtained when you pay the tax) he can take the dog to the dog pound- and keep it until you pay both the license tax fee and the impound fee- which is far higher than just paying the dog tax to start with. So it is the dog, not the owner, who is usually "arrested" for non-payment.
