Which party will have more members switch to "yes" on Pres. Bush's rescue bill?
Who will switch their votes?
Well I have seen some comments on the forum that President Bush's rescue bill will pass this time around thanks to Democrats who switch their votes from no to yes.
They could be right but I figure more republicans will switch from no to yes to support their Party and their President's financial rescue package.
So I thought it would be fun to let people predict and offer their comments as to why they switched.
(btw this is not a "scientific" poll, I didnt want to alienate the republicans)
Just kidding guys...lol

Re: Who will switch their votes?
Well I voted more Republicans. At least 10 will switch.
I figure maybe 5 or 6 Dems will switch as well.
I can't see where the Dems have gotten anything since the first vote to make them switch.

Maybe if the House refuses to agree the dems will rise up and demand mortgage-free housing for everybody.

Well oc it looks like some states are starting to feel the pinch.
Even republicans are getting nervous...
I dont know how the California delegation broke down on the first vote.
But I wouldnt be surprised to see some from both parties switch from nay to yea.

Re: Who will switch their votes?
Well when I posted this I thot the vote would be later this evening but it now looks like it will be around noontime so anyone who wants to go on record better do it soon.
I can understand why maybe some dont want to predict.

Re: Who will switch their votes?
Riddle me this Sherm.
Why should my tax dollars go to bail out Californians when I saw on WCHS night before last that West Virginians are feeling the national pinch, credit is strong and banks have money to lend?
As for who will switch, I don't know. The Senate add so much pork spending to this bill in their efforts to purchase both sides in the house that one can't really tell about these things.
Proponants of Paulson's bill will win.
America and the taxpayers will lose.
Same ole same ole.

Re: Who will switch their votes?
#7. An equal amount from each party has been purchased by the Senate's addition to this bill and will switch their vote to pass this legislated bribery, bringing the amount to more then a trillion dollars ($1,000,000,000,000.00) and screwing thus screwing the grandkids of our current kindergarten kids.

Re: Who will switch their votes?
I think you'll see a combined defection of 20-25 to the dark side and 4 to 8 coming back to their senses for a net gain of the 12 needed to pass the bill.
Members who stand to lose the most, i.e. get defeated, will be allowed to vote as their constituents want them to while those more secure who can withstand the fallout (Mallohan and Rahall) will be allowed to go against the will of the American people.

Re: Who will switch their votes?
It won't only be Republicans switching Sherm. There will be some democrats as well. What you're not understanding is that the pork added by the Senate was meant to entice members of BOTH parties to go against the will of Americans.

Re: Who will switch their votes?
Well I said around 25, 15 of them republicans.
That leaves 10 or so Dems.
There were not really a lot of changes aimed at Dems.

25 Republicans / 33 democrats switched.
Seems the democrats likely wasn't on the short end of the quiver after all.

I dont know how the California delegation broke down on the first vote.
Some voted for and some voted against. Pelosi couldn't even control the democratic majority from her home state.

Well duh, one item of that newly added "pork" was ........
$6 MILLION for wooden arrows
most assuredly to go in someone's quiver in exchange for a their "yes" vote.
