Bush/Gore and Bush/Kerry Polls Should Give McCain Hope
Recent polls suggesting that Obama is building a lead over McCain. However, at this time time in 2000, major polls had Gore up 11% over Bush. In 2004, some polls had Kerry up 5% over Bush. We all know what happened.
I think this year it will be similar, if not better for the Republican candidate because I believe many who say they will vote for Obama (because it's hip or cool or fashinable), actually won't.
Anyone else feel this way?

Well Keli, if you are suggesting that how all the votes are counted, if at all, is more important than how they are cast, I agree.

Well I think I am a lot like Terri.
I always think my guy will win too.
I usually appreciate his humor so I figured he would appreciate mine.
Have you got a burr underneath your saddle or what?

I think we should have the coronation on the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Do we really need two days that live in infamy?
Re: Bush/Gore and Bush/Kerry Polls Should Give McCain Hope
I've heard the arch angel Michael is going to coronate him King of America as there will be no use for future elections once we all submit to his greatness.

HA, at this point you are now scared to death of what will happen if Obama loses, ...... aren't you Shermmy baby.
If Hillary had beat him out in the Primaries, ..... no problem.
But if he loses (sinks) in the General election ...... then the result will be much more tragic than the sinking of the Titanic.
Gee Sherm, if Obama loses they will probably have to ..... re-activate you for extended service in the WVSP, ....... right.
And that's what scares the hell outa you.

Scripps poll: Kerry ahead in key state of Ohio By THOMAS HARGROVE and GUIDO H. STEMPEL III Scripps Howard News Service October 22, 2004 - Democrat John Kerry has a lead as high as 6 percent over President Bush in the key battleground state of Ohio, according to a survey completed Thursday night at Ohio University's Scripps Survey Research Center. Among registered voters, Kerry leads 49 percent to Bush's 43 percent, with 2 percent saying they will support third party candidates and 6 percent undecided. Among likely voters (people who say they are committed to voting next month) Kerry's lead...

That is true OC. And we all know that angle will be stoked for all it's worth.
But Obama is no John Kerry unless I miss my guess.
I figure there will be a real donnybrook b4 it's over.
I really do think Obama will win.
But I always think dems will win, so I wouldn't worry too much about sodbuster's predictions if I was a rightwing McCainiac....

No, Kerry had normal sized ears. Unless I'm way off base, the Bradley effect did not apply to Kerry.

Exit polls, just like other polls, are very flawed. Having said that, I do think that the preponderence of data shows Obama very comfortably ahead.
The only possibility I see right now for TerryH's hopes that fewer people will vote for Obama than are saying so is not racism but rather people who are presently afraid of being called a racist for not liking Obama.
Check out the youtube video of McCain supporters in Manhattan. I think there is an intolerance toward McCain supporters, with pit vipers like that odious Cafferty fellow averring that unless you vote for Obama you must be some sort of racist.
Anyone not a socialist is now a racist. I think a great many people will show up against Obama on election day, in secret, when they were afraid to oppose him in public. I don't see that this will be enough to give McCain the election, but it is a possibility.

Re: Bush/Gore and Bush/Kerry Polls Should Give McCain Hope
I heard someone saying last week that the young vote would turn out this election as well and turn close races into Obama landslides.
All I could think of was the young vote was supposed to give Kerry the vote. 7% turned out.

What's more, the thousands of new voters registered by ACORN will not turn out. There are exceptions...

"Exit polls, just like other polls, are very flawed."
I dont think so Mike.
Matter of fact, when they have international monitors to ensure fair elections in third world countries, that is one of the main tools they use.
If they poll people after they vote that is a lot more reliable than polling them before.
And the exit polls showed Kerry winning in 2004.

Sherm,
You mean like the international monitors who have helped Chavez become dictator in Venezuela?
If those monitors are using exit polls as one of their "main tools," then you can kiss the secret ballot goodbye.
Whatever happened to being able to vote your beliefs without compulsion? Of course, I'm sure you also favor card check legislation.
I'd tell you about how I became a Teamster, but I'm sure you already know that no Republican has ever been a Teamster.
