The fact that WVU might have snubbed Magee for consideration as the new WVU head coaching position had nothing to do with the fact that Magee is black any more than it did that his name is Irish.

This playing of the race card has more to do with the ugly divorce of Coach Rodriguez and WVU than racism. Rod's lawyers are going to muddy the waters by claiming that Rod left WVU so abruptly because of the climate of racism at WVU.

On this MLK Day, I think that it is time that a person who plays the race or gender card has to substantiate their claims to someone; otherwise, it can just be crass manipulation of the system by slander and innuendo.

Ugly divorce? I'd heard that but have seen nothing about it in writing. Why is that?

It was in the sports section and even made the national news. The reason Magee wasn't considered is becasue before WVU knew what was going on, Magee got on a plane headed to Michigan and was introduced as the Offensive Coordinator at Michigan.

Had he waited until after the bowl to make his intentions knows to anyone, he would have likely been the interim coach and would have at least been considered for the head coaching position. He admits he jumped the gun in accepting RR's offer to jump to Michigan.
