Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
What do you plan to do with your $300? I plan to give mine to the Ron Paul campaign.

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
I think I'll spend mine on crack--seriously, I don't think this is the answer, but the more of my own money I get back from Mr Sam the better!

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
It isn't the answer. All this is, is a votebuying scheme for stupid people. I just wrote Congress women Capito and expressed my displeasure with regard to the so called stimulus package. I told her that if congress and the president was truly serious about stimulating the economy, people have to be able to keep what they earn. That requires permanent tax cuts for people that actually pay taxes.
Oh by the way Keli, the Ron Paul Campaign and I both thank you for kind and generous offer. I am glad to see you are wising up and supprting the only best candidate for president.
However, I plan to place mine money in my savings account.

To reply to all above, ....... HA, ...... don't be trying to kid me.
That $300 is already spent on "NearFutures".
The gasoline, utility, food, etc. bills you will be receiving in the near future.

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
I'm buying ammo. If I we get enough, maybe even a nice new gun:)
Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
Just a suggestion, but you can always donate to a local school boosters organization. We'll gladly take them at Poca. And it's normally tax deductible.
I realize it's begging but at least it's not out on the street.

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
Steph,
My college is giving students laptops. I asked my students what would happen if they gave them .22s as well (to consider a city in utah's pronouncement, later struck down by the courts, that everyone therein should have a gun). My favorite student immediately said that he would trade in his .22 and his laptop for a .38.

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
A working spouse and two kids - I may get the max.
That will be used when I pull the engine in my wife's Subaru as she hit something and knocked the exhaust loose from the manifold on the passenger side.
Anything left will go towards the addition we are building on our trailer.
The wife is desperately sick of the fact that we are still sleeping on the futon in the living room...
Already have the guns - "plinkers" and "stoppers".

Oh, RC, I'm not going to get another gun. It's sad but true. DD will be a senior next year and I figure I'll stash that away for all those senior expenses. They tend to be astronomical and this wife doesn't work and her sperm donor won't help.

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
Ours is going in the savings account. We bought a car, have a kind in college, and paid nearly $6,000 in Federal Taxes. I think we've stimulated the economy quite enough, thank you very much. I don't have to buy any weapons, I have an arsenal now.

I thought the right-wingers would commiserate! Remember that rich people like me are what make this economy hum! Also, remember that I pay more taxes than others, so shouldn't I get more back?
I'm trying to remember the way that old canard works.................Isn't that the way they sold us the "Bush Tax Breaks"?

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
I'm a conservative, not a "right winger". In any event these rebates are just a thinly veiled attempt at appeasing the masses. We need to shrink the size of government, reduce spending and the massive debt, develop a sound monetary policy and reduce taxes and fees for ALL Americans.
Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
I know...you're a Ron Paul person.
So, then you disagreed with the premise behind the Bush tax cuts as well? I seem to recall he had more than a few fans here throughout his term(s).

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
I'm almost always in favor of cutting taxes. I say almost, because while I want taxes cut, I want government spending and debt reduced more. To my way of thinking the Bush tax cut were a mixed bag.
I supported President Bush for a long time until I had an epiphany, or woke up and came to my senses, that President Bush didn't invade Iraq to protect Americans. He had other motives and with the war he waged he has not only cost the lives of thousands of US soldiers, and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and displaced millions of Iraqis, he further destabilized the region and brought Al Qaeda to Iraq. He opened the door for radical extremists and increased enmity towards America throughout not only the Muslim world, but the entire global community. In doing so, he has driven this nation further into debt while doing NOTHING to secure our ports and borders.
He's an idiot and I must be too for blindly following him like a sheep to slaughter for so long.
There you have it.

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
So why not return the tax money? As Bush said the other night, the IRS accepts checks and money orders for those that want to pay.

The funny thing is that puts you solidly in line with what this liberal has said from the beginning. With the exception that I felt we should keep the taxes in the government to save for a "rainy day". Like a big building getting blown up, an unnecessary war, etc.
These wars don't pay for themselves, even if the GOP told us they would.

Not all the GOP told us they would. John McCain voted against them twice for the very reason that we were going into a war.

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
Well if the Democratics wouldn't keep funding the war this problem would end. They don't because they are spineless worms imho and many of them supported the war to begin with.
As far as keeping taxpayer money for a "rainy day" that is bull. The dynamic duo the liberals have duking it out for the nomination wish to increase federal spending by HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS!!!! Better start building that ark, buddy.

I think you give the Dems more power than they have. They have slim majorities, none veto-proof, and one even was hanging by a thread as the Senator lay in hospital.
Spineless? Sure. However, there is a political reality too. The new GOP, which brought you the largest entitlement in US history, the worst military conflict in history, and the crappiest economy since the great depression.
Remember that the reason people vote for those clowns, is "foreign policy", "low taxes", ....and oh yeah, "abortion".
The adults are back in charge eh?
If you blame the Dems for any of this mess you've got blinders on and a feedbag.

Re: Tax rebate/refund/returned contribution
Oh so you think the Democrats are completely innocent? You must have your head in the sand. While they may not be able to override a Presidential veto, they don't have to present him with legislation to fund the war either.
As far at the GOP is concerned my party abandoned me. They should be ashamed of themselves. The GOP has for decades stood for small government, noninterventionism, and most of the ideals to which I subscribe. You want to disregard men like Taft & Goldwater but I won't. My party's been hijacked by neocons but there are those of us working to reclaim it. If we fail this election cycle we will try again or perhaps form a new party.
