Barney Frank rips banks for sponsoring sporting events after bailout. Last year banks gave Barney Frank $230,000. That was okay.

Should banks do zero advertising or just none on sports?

Personally, I think the amount of money wasted on some of these events is ridiculous but it is advertising and it's none of the governments business.

Not nearly as stupid as wasting it on Barney Frank's re-election campaign. Wait until he sees the Shea Stadium replacement.

I was by there last month. Shea need replacing. They should have torn down the worlds fair thing, the flying suacers from Men in Black. That thing looked it's age. Perhaps they could take Fwank's money for that.

And it's not going to change until we get serious about reforming how political campaigns are financed.

YES, it is the Government's business ......... because Advertising expenses are 100% "write-offs" on their gross profits.

And many corporations and business don't need to advertise that much ......... but they sure as hell need those tax "write-offs".

That is why many individuals and businesses calculate their tax liability in December of each year. A "last minute" advertisement or donation of $100 could save you $150+ in April.

Then I'd say the government needs to change the law but for Barney Fwank to question it because they received TARP money is BS.

Did he get a donation after the "bailout"?

I believe that was Frank's objection.

And I'm saying Fwank doesn't have a right to object to anything including how the TARP money was spent.

The top 10 banks were brought into a room and told they would participate in TARP because to not do so would make the banks that did appear weak.

Government intervention was one of the reasons given for not wanting to participate and ALL banks were assured the government would not have any, nor were they seeking, any voting power whatsoever.

Had that been part of the deal, there would have been banks, like Ford in the auto money, who refused to participate with the stings attached.
