Holy Smoke Screen?

To the Editor:

There is one religion that is not mentioned--or which is intentionally downplayed, if one of its adherents is involved in acts of violence and murder. Its members would never be called part of a vast conspiracy! There is one religion whose religious shrines were not shown being destroyed by the apocalyptic events in the movie "2012"--for fear of angering its followers. There is one religion whose symbols would never be displayed in a jar of urine and called "art." There is one religion whose names for its holy days have not been changed to innocuous sounding seasonal fests like Festival Tree Season. There is one religion that has been granted the use of public facilities and have even had public facilities modified in state buildings to accommodate its religious rituals. There is one religion which would never have been mentioned as having been shielded by a wall of separation from the state--only one religion is mentioned in the so-called separation doctrine of the Federalist Papers. There is only one religion whose adherents seek inclusion in American society and its freedom; yet, which wants to not be governed by the Constitution but only its dogma. There is one religion that has been granted public charter school status in Michigan. There is one religion that the Department of Child Protective Services will allow children to be returned to a cruel, dehumanizing home environment--even an environment that includes threats of killing the incorrigible child! There is one religion which is NOW-proof--despite its dehumanizing treatment of women.

There is one religion, that if criticized even by veiled remarks, will almost always result in a Letter to the Editor not being published... Is this one of those occasions?

Me thinks the Islamic Religion of Peace scares the BEJESUS out of all those who only claim to be believers in Christianity.

If one does not have the nerve or guts to stand up and be heard in supporrt of what they claim to be believers in ..... then it becomes apparent that they are lying through their teeth whenever they make said claims.

And it is also apparent that they will quickly become subserviant to anything that scares the BEJESUS out of them and they will "sell out", admonish and criticize anyone who does not follow suite and do the same dastardly deeds as they do. Such is their justifications for their own evil actions.

Now I cannot but think, that the greatness of a kingdom, and its changes into prosperity, often becomes the occasion of mischief and of transgression to men, for so it usually happens, that the manners of subjects are corrupted at the same time with those of their governors, which subjects then lay aside their own sober way of living, as a reproof of their governor’s intemperate courses, and follow their wickedness, as if it were virtue, for it is not possible to show that men approve of the actions of their kings, unless they do the same actions with them.
