Well now, that would really depend on how big those barrels were.

But if they are all 55 gal barrels, ........ it is probably not quite 7 to 1.

But now by the time one purchases the seed, plows, plants, tends, harvests and transports the corn, ..... and then processes it, denatures it and delivers the finished product to a retailer, ....... you have expended quite a bit of money and energy just getting 1 barrel of ethanol to market. And ya hafta do it all over again next growing season.

Adding in fertilizer, diesel fuel for farm equipment, electricity for the farm, energy for distilling... it may, depending on the efficiency of the operation.

EtOH as fuel is stupid.

Why grow corn for fuel in a starving world when wood waste and weeds that methanol can be produced from are fairly ubiquitous?
