Teenagers – expending too many dollars and no common sense
The three teens purchased the iPad at a Best Buy store in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before proceeding to destroy it on the sidewalk outside of the store. They recorded the destruction of their newly purchased gadget and posted the video to the YouTube video sharing site,
Justin Kockott, the 19-year-old high school student who made the video titled "Brand new iPad getting smashed by a baseball bat." He told the newspaper, "I wanted to be the first one to do it before other people did it," adding that "it was just something to do." ….. and had actually bought two other iPads. (all at $499 each)

It says he purchased it. Had he stolen it, Sam's concern about "no common sense" might have some validity. But if he purchased it with his own money, he can do as he pleases with it.
After all, Cato preaches that his property is his to do with as he pleases- that what most of us view as "common sense" is meaningless to him as relates to renting his property to homosexual couples. So what is the big deal here? Can this young man not do as he pleases with his property? Why is it any of your concern?

What it tells me is that perhaps we're not quite as bad off in this country as our government would make us out to be and that perhaps much of the fear was overstated to create uncertainty and pass needless spending bills.

Your ignorance is simply amazing. I never said the first word about the government stopping him from doing whatever he wants with his property. I agree it is his property to do with as he pleases. I only find the little puke a complete idiot for spending that kind of money to just break something up.

Could be. You never know what crazy stuff even the best of us did when we were in our teens. But of course Sam and Cato never did anything crazy; so they are the exceptions.

If it's amazing to you, just think of what it is for me- because I've got to LIVE with it 24-7.

I did more than my share. Got yelled at for some, kicked in the butt for some, and got away with some. The difference between you and I is that I accept the consequences for my actions even when that included being called a moron, you don't

What evidence do you have that I don't?

Great point, Aaron. My grandmother, who is 92 and fabulous, regularly takes my family out to eat when we visit her in Cleveland, supposedly the nation's most "miserable" city in terms of economy and what not. Curiously, the restaurants are generally full, and each time my grandma asks where exactly this recession is that is supposed to be going on.
I'm not suggesting that a great many people aren't hurting; it's obvious that many are. But I think you are quite correct that there is a level of "useful fear mongering" that is occurring (and has been) that justifies further government encroachment. Global warming works in much the same way.

Ziggy I feel your pain. Whenever my delinquents get sick of working with me, I always tell them, "imagine what it's like to be with me ALL the time!"
Truly has it been said: "wherever you go there, there you are. you can run from yourself, but you can't get far"
