No wonder Verizon wanted out.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Lynne Monaco is in charge of security for Frontier Communications Corp. in 27 states, but she's never seen a problem like the vandalism plaguing the phone company's equipment in West Virginia.
"Just about every day since we took over Verizon's landlines on July 1, we have had a fairly significant cable theft somewhere in the state," Monaco said.
"It's most frequent in the southwest part of the state, but there are a few pockets in other parts of the state as well."
Frontier is still totaling the losses it has experienced in the month since it acquired Verizon's landlines.
"It's a six-figure number," she said.
In all of the states where Frontier operates, "there is nothing that even comes close to what's happening in West Virginia," Monaco said.

Re: No wonder Verizon wanted out.
If it's the corporations doing it to us (i.e- "It's most frequent in the southwest part of the state"), it's OK. Lawlessness breeds more lawlessness. Maybe some folks think that turnabout is fair play. Monkey see, monkey do.
