Does that mean that universal health care coverage will not be universal?

It means that Obama isn't even a consistent leftist. I don't think that man stands for anything other than his own political aggrandizement. I never thought he really cared about the common man, and this shows that his support for the disadvantaged only goes as far as the extent to which he can exploit them.

True. That is why he is losing ground. Some of his once-upon-a-time most ardent admirers are realizing that he does not have the courage to support his own agenda, wishy-washy as that was.

I think some on the left are leaving him, as are some in the center and swing voters. He isn't consistently leftist, but he surely isn't governing in an open, transparent, or fiscally sound manner, either.

He is more moderate that people want to give him credit for. Like severe right-wingers going after GOP members that are moderate, the severe left is becoming disenchanted with him.

I'm most angry about the broken promises, like the closing of Guantanamo. Of course, he wouldn't be the only president to not keep campaign promises, just the most recent.

How is giving McDonald's an exemption "moderate?" It's schmuckery, not moderation. I would hope as someone who calls himself a moderate that you would be offended at this.

I agree.

I wasn't saying this was an example of his moderation, although one could argue that he is giving special favors to a big corporation, something more right than left in the political spectrum. I'm saying that overall, many of his actions end up being more moderate than people give him credit for.

If he's moderate, I'm the King of Prussia. SB is right, he's an extreme left liberal who lacks the courage to stand for what he supposedly believs in. Of course, considering that other then academic work, he's accomplished absolutely nothing in his life, why is anyone suprised.

You are, of course, entitled to your own opinion.

Obama's actual actions, regardless of his words, do not support that opinion.

Unless you can show A) what he's done in his Presidency or 2) What he's accomplished in his life, I'd say your statement is horseshit.

As is yours.

Guantanamo is still open. We are still in Iraq and Afghanistan, we did not get a single payer system...

There are more moderate than extreme left.

Since I can provide examples of his moderation , I guess you are the only one still holding horseshit.

Had Barrack Obama campaigned on keeping Gitmo open, keeping troops in Iraq and increasing troops in Afghanistan, you might be right. As he PROMISED to close Gitmo, bring ALL troops home from Iraq in less then 16 months and ending the conflict in Afghanistan, all you've proven is that Barrack Obama is a gutless coward afraid to stand his convictions.

Dennis Kucinich, Howard Dean and Paul Krugman agree with me as they've inferred at times over the past year.
