The problem is regulation, not just taxes
Another good read by Don Suber of the DM, which included this:
Large corporations also love regulation. They are barriers to competition. Consider aftermath of the BP oil spill. Congress immediately worked to take off the $75 million cap on the liability for an oil rigger in the Gulf of Mexico and the president stopped new drilling in that area.
In stopping new drilling, the president rewarded companies already with rigs in the Gulf - including BP - by blocking any competitors from constructing new rigs. Even if President Palin lifts that ban in 2013, lifting the liability will keep small companies from drilling.
Big companies do not mind. They will be sued anyway for amounts higher than the liability cap, and likely will pay anyway. The new regulation keeps out competitors.
And so BP was rewarded twice by the American government for spilling millions of gallons of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

There's a reason the rise and power of big business goes hand and hand with the rise and power of big government.
