Staying classeless until the end, Arlen goes out whining:

A gutless coward to the end. I recall hearing him speak on the day the stimulus passed, when his was the vote that ended debate and allowed a vote. He acted as if he had no power when he alone could have killed the bill and saved American a trillion or so dollars. He got what he deserved.

An absolute kneebiter, but I wish him well in private life.

That's pretty much what I think of most every democrat other than Manchin and Nelson of Nebraska. They are also absolute kneebiters, but I don't think they should be allowed to roam free until they have found wherever it was they left their souls.

Manchin sent me a letter in reply to my entreaty that he not vote to unionize emergency responders (the euphemistic acronym was PSEECA, the Public Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2010). Manchin's flippant response to me was that..."There is nothing in the bill to compel the employer to agree to anything. Fiscal decisions remain firmly the prerogative of the employer...

Oh, yeah? What if the "employer and employee" failed to come to agreement on a big fat 100% of salary pension for all emergency responders? The two sides would have been subject to binding arbitration in a situation where the taxpayer's side would be ignored and subject to the whims of a disinterested and unelected arbiter. That's a risk we cannot accept. Yet, Joe Manchin voted for it so that... "those who risk their lives everyday would have a voice..." They already have a freakin' voice. They can speak with their feet like I do. Asshole. He's spent his entire adult life talking out of both sides of his mouth saying whatever his listener might want to hear.

Ask the folks in Illinois, Cook County, or Chicago if the "employer" is responsible for making fiscal decisions. You know what I'm talking about, Sheik. All three of those entities, Illinois, Chicago, and Cook County are looking down the barrel of bankruptcy having surrendered their fiscal responsibilities to binding arbitration.

Manchin might look like a different animal from a distance. Up close, he's Harry Reid's lap dog - a common and unattractive mixed breed.

I'm surprised you did this last time, Zig. I'm sure you couldn't hold your nose tight enough to vote for Raese but wasn't Jesse Johnson on the ballot? What's really sad is no matter where you are philosophically, I think we all have to agree that the first chapter of Manchin's U.S. Senate career is pretty dismal: no shows, flipping-flopping, indecision, and finally indefensible positions that can please nobody.

Don't you think that Joe will straighten up and fly right just in time to convince the gullible WV voter that he's their man and win reelection? It seems to be his area of expertise, no?

I realized today that Ziggy played me. He didn't vote for Joe last time. It was easy to convince him - he was already convinced.

I believe that voters perceive executives (Presidents and Governors) differently than legislators. How else can you explain the statistical failure of U.S. Senators and U. S. Congressmen (or women) to gain election to the Oval?

I must say I'm disappointed with both Manchin and Nelson, but I really think they had principles at one time. I think Manchin is going to get his ass handed him in 2012, and that will be the harbinger of a red West Virginia that is 30 years or so overdue.

I went to a meeting regarding the tolling of Route 35 and it's going to pass but here's the kicker. The bonds to be repaid with tolls will be for 85 million. Of that 85 million, 20 is needed for mandatory reserves and 20 for the construction of toll booths so all that is needed to complete to road is $45 million dollars. Between 2 counties, there were 125 people who showed up to protest.

If you read the Charleston Gazette, you'll see well over 200 post regarding the football game the other night. If you read the combined stories covering Putnam and Mason County, you'll see 40, 10 or so of which are from me.

More people showed up for a vicious dog ordinance in Putnam County. All of this despite that fact that I can't find 10 people who truly want to see the road tolled.

West Virginian's like to cry but in the end, they set on their ass and do nothing. Joe Manchin will be re-elected by a wide margin and the same ole same ole will continue for the next 80 years.

As soon as I get my degree, if not sooner, as much as I love being from West Virginia I'm out of here.

It is the same up here where I live. They'll whine and bellyache, but when push comes to shove they won't lift the first finger to change things. Alol three of our kids have left or will leave. When I spoke to our local delegate about the fact most kids left, I was informed that the trough was a mini New River Gorge and that tourism would save us. I have spoke to many people about what the idiot said and yet the dunderheads continue to put the moron back in office. Like you, when I retire, which isn't that long, my wife and I are gone.

I do feel a bit different about our part of the state however. So far as I'm concerned they can build a bridge with two railroad tracks on it, One east and one west, between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains. Every fifth train be 150 carloads of crap and they can dump it right on Moorefield.

I've got a friend up in Hardy County and she tells me that part of the state is different. I told her I find that hard to believe and she says the county governments aren't as corrupt. Regardless, our state government is what it is, corrupt from the bottom up. It's been that way since our inception and I don't see it changing. This is a one party state and that party is corruption and I'm tired of it. I'll go elsewhere and make more money before I continue to fund the corruption that is West Virginia.

I considered attending that meeting the other night, Aaron. I did not because I have been convinced for quite some time those toll booths are going up. Period. My daughter is here for just a few more days, I didn't want to waste my time.

I was suprised at how little is required to finish the funding and they say there are no alternatives. I know the process was started to put in the new law as they have their eyes set on 19 North from the turnpike to 79 but I honestly don't see why they can't go ahead and find funding for 35.

As soon as you find out who the Bond Holders are ....... and what the Interest Rate is going to be ....... you will know why it was a "Dun Deal".

With blessings from the WVSC.

With regard to the public debt for public employees. This is pretty chilling. Why is there nothing in the media about this? And how disingenuous is Joe Manchin for foisting this tsunami in public debt on West Virginia voters? Is Joe an apostle of Cloward and Piven?

Now I've been telling you all forever ...... that WV's unfunded liabilies total somewhere between $18 and $24 BILLION dollars.

And ole Joe is not responsible for very much of that debt.

And there is nothing in the media about it for the same reason that the partisan Democrats are not blaming Obama for the current $3.18 gallon of gasoline. Hells bells, the Democrats were demanding Congressional investigations of Bush & Chaney when gas hit $3.00 gallon.

Anyway, the majority of States that are in really DEEP DO-DO with unfunded liabilities are heavily liberal Democrat controlled ......... and the media loves liberals.

You're right about the $3.18 and nobody wants to know what Obama is doing about it, Sam. But as far as I can tell his support is cratering. Hiring Clinton re-treads is not a real winner for 2012...
