Iran vs Egypt
There are protests in Iran. One wonders if Obamessiah will call for the immediate transition to democracy in Iran like he did in Egypt.

When/if it gets to the point that it appears the "protestors" will likely prevail, you can bet that "he" will.

Re: Iran vs Egypt
Ziggy,
I think a bigger point is that Obama should have nothing to do with it unless it affects the United States. As we cannot tell if this present uprising will be democratic or not, I see no reason that the US President should have anything at all to say on the matter.
As for Iran, if Ahmanidinijad poses a threat to the US, then it is well and good to dispose of him; however, if not, we should mind our own business, and any democratic movement in Iran needs to be left to the Iranians.

Re: Iran vs Egypt
Now I now realize that things in Egypt were really not that great n’ wonderful relative to things in America ……….. but they sure as hell were relative to things in Lebanon, Syria, Jordon, Algeria, Gaza, etc. ……… so why in hell is bunches of Americans so happy n’ joyous that Muburak has been deposed and the Egyptian Government is now in control of the same bunch of like minded radicals and despots that control those other countries?
Have any Palestinians been celebrating and cheering the demise of Murburak's control?
Will the "new order" in Egypt ....... "tear down those border fences" between Egypt and Gaza and welcome all of those Palestinians to join in and enjoy "the good life" of a new Egypt?

Re: Iran vs Egypt
I agree, Sam, that what comes out of Egypt may well be much worse for the region, the world, and the US, than what was "kept in" by Mubarak. I see no reason to doubt that Islamism is coming and it won't be pretty, particularly for Israel.
Yet, the US took sides, with the protestors, instead of holding back and merely saying: "whatever comes of this, we are watching for our own interests" and letting that be good enough. The bombs can always come later.

Re: Iran vs Egypt
Why don't the people of Egypt deserve liberty? If they are willing to fight for it, to die for it, shouldn't they have the opportunity to participate in determining their nation's future?
Re: Iran vs Egypt
Yup, just like the liberal Socialists in America deserve the liberty they desire ........ and that's why Obama has promised to "fundamentally change" things to their liking and/or satisfaction.

I'm not sure that they deserve anything, and I frankly wonder if we deserve liberty here in the US. I think the US should, however, take a neutral stance as long as possible and until it affects our immediate interests. We do too much meddling overseas. If folks pose us a threat, it is well and good to dispose of them. Until that time, benign neglect strikes me as the best idea.
