Libya
The Pentagon said Monday the military intervention in Libya cost the U.S. an estimated $608 million in the first few of weeks of the operation. Spending is down significantly, though not as much as expected.
Defense Department spokeswoman Navy Cmdr. Kathleen Kesler said the price tag is for spending through April 4 — or for 17 days of the mission, the most recent figure available.
Officials also revised an earlier statement on what the figure includes. They said previously it was only the added expense of the operation and did not count other costs, such as paychecks for U.S. sailors, airmen and other forces because they would have been deployed somewhere in the world anyway.
On Monday, however, officials said the number does include pay and other normal deployment costs.
The $608 million estimate shows a large drop from what the U.S. spent in the early days of the multinational operation that started March 19 — roughly $55 million a day in the first 10 days, then about $8.3 million a day in the seven that followed.

GIMME A BREAK, the expenditures for the 1st day alone probably accounts for half of that $608 million estimate, to wit:

WASHINGTON – U.S. and British ships and submarines launched the first phase of a missile assault on Libyan air defenses, firing 112 Tomahawk cruise missiles Saturday at more than 20 coastal targets to clear the way for air patrols to ground Libya's air force

Re: Libya
It provides jobs in American factories to replenish those Tomahawk missles, right Sam. War's what got us out of the great depression so I reckon you visionaries that think outside the box figure if we occupy enough countries, you can boost the economy by building bombs and stuff, huh Sam.

As you agree with me that nation building is not war thus doesn't require the amount of spending of a full fledged war, how has the war spending myth been fallen flat on it's ass?
