Sam, what's up with this? And then they only got $3,100 for 3.5 acres. Are they kidding?

Re: Braxton County Inadvertantly Sells 911 Center
Jim, the building was built at Flatwoods ajacent to the Central Regional Jail by a retailer of "big" logging equipment. It went bust and the building and real estate changed hands once or twice before the County Commission, in all their wisdom, purchased it for a 911 Center.
Only problem, there was a $3K+ lien against it for back taxes and what I figured happened was that George K, the Sheriff, wanted his part of the money and the CC wouldn't give it to him ..... so he sold it in front of the Court House doors at his annual Tax Sale.
Now the CC will hafta redeem it, + costs, from the bidder who bought it. That is iffen they adhere to State Law.
