Just goes to show ya.
The resulting fate of this Forum was a microcosm view of the ensuring fate of this once great country wherein the infighting of those with different political and religious views have turned brother against brother, sister against sister, friends against friends.
When the self-importance of always being right …… overshadows the importance of doing what is right ……. then one’s personal goal changes from one of working to improve their own “quality of life” ……. to their goal of destroying their opponent’s “quality of life”.
In a communal atmosphere, regardless of whether it includes two (2) people or millions of people, to destroy an opponent’s “quality of life” is to destroy one’s own “quality of life”.

Re: Just goes to show ya.
Are you suggesting that we have a "common lot," and when we desire to curse others, we ourselves become victims?

Re: Just goes to show ya.
Michael, assuming that I am correct in your use of the word “curse” relative to the context of my above post, then the answer is “yes”.
In essence, one’s obsession of “self-importance of always being right”, no matter what, …… negates the “I agree, respect n’ defend” portion of the following:
“I don’t agree with what you said but I respect and will defend your right to say it”.
There have been several posters to these forums that have had said “obsession” and any commentary contrary to their posted verbiage, especially cited facts or evidence, would incite their ire, dislike and/or hatred of/for said poster resulting in ever after their curse of: “ATTACK THE MESSENGER, not his/her message”. A per say, to wit:
“I don’t agree with anything you say, nor will I respect or defend your right to say it”.
Which causes many marriages, and friendships, to end in a far less than amicable divorce.

Re: Just goes to show ya.
Much wisdom there, Sam! The ability to disagree vehemently while personally wishing well to others. That is lacking amongst politicians. I think it goes back to the W, who people truly hated. I don't think people wished Clinton ill, even if they did not approve of what he was doing, but many (including my mom and a coworker) truly wanted the man in prison.

Re: Just goes to show ya.
Clinton is a PR man who pays close attention to which way the wind is blowing. And I still say he was specifically "selected" to ..... take the fall ....... but the Dot.Com Explosion saved his arse and the "wave" it created he rode triumphatally. (not using my spellchecker)
Obama is little more than a puppet being controlled by his "handlers" that he has surrounded himself with. He has done good by them ever since Harvard and he will continue to do so, as least for 4 more years if re-elected. His approval "base" is now pretty much cast in stone unless he really screws up.
He will be riding on that "free ticket" for the rest of his life, just like Clinton is now doing.
