An abortion is a blessing??
To the Editor:
On March 8, 2012, The Very Reverend Dr. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale, President and Dean Episcopal Divinity School appeared before a Congressional committee and made her case for abortion rights.
Her arguments were very similar to her remarks made in her first sermon at the Episcopal Divinity School. entitled, "Our Work is Not Done." An excerpt follows:
"When a woman wants a child but can't afford one because she hasn't the education necessary for a sustainable job, or access to health care, or day care, or adequate food, it is the abysmal priorities of our nation, the lack of social supports, the absence of justice that are the tragedies; the abortion is a blessing. "
"And when a woman becomes pregnant within a loving, supportive, respectful relationship; has every option open to her; decides she does not wish to bear a child; and has access to a safe, affordable abortion - there is not a tragedy in sight -- only blessing. The ability to enjoy God's good gift of sexuality without compromising one's education, life's work, or ability to
put to use God's gifts and call is simply blessing. "
To follow Ragsdale's logic would mean that parents who kill their families in bad times or circumstances are a blessing, as well.
The new president of the Episcopal Divinity School is openly gay and an outspoken advocate of abortion and Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender rights. She is married to a woman serves as a Rector of an Episcopal Church in Massachusetts.
Pro-Life Christian, abortion is contrary to God's law and our work is not done. There are many people who wish to adopt and there is a lack of those in the US who gives their babies up for adoption because they choose abortion.
May this woman serve as a warning to the Presbyterian Church USA, United Methodist Church, liberal Baptist associations and conventions, etc. that this is what happens when you violate God's Word and accept and ordain reprobates (LGBT or otherwise).
Abortion is not a blessing. It is a curse upon this nation-ever since we started killing babies in the womb in 1973, this country has gone down hill.
